Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

Re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

Mitch is a bakvaas bowler. He is just a very lucky bowler. I dont understand how he gets so many wickets. He only had a couple of good series and hence got the Player of the Year. He's been pretty sht after that.

Looking forward to Sehwag spanking him around.

Umar Amin played well as well.. u cant judge ppl on last innings only.. :\

^ Only Butt, Azhar and Farhat 's avg is >20. I'm sure Amin is better than his avg suggests.

Re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

I don't see any historic win...Ponting made the wrong decision to bat first (like he did in Sydney test the last time...where Pakistan lost an almost won match due to Kamran Akmal & teams internal rift)...and Pakistan won by chance... :D

Re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

but you still had to bowl well and pitch the ball in the right channels in those conditions

I mean 88 all out.....no credit given to the bowlers! c'mon

Even among Aussie batters only Katich and Clarke averaged more than 30. And Katich's high average of 46.75 is mainly because of his two fifties in the first game. He did not do jack in Leeds

Great interview. Even Ehsan Bhai would find it hard to find fault with Butt here.

^ dats a difference between an educated captain and a captain who learnt english staying outside :D

I am liking Salman. He is a good person, mashaAllah. Poor thing has been judged and dismissed for a long time (no one to blame really-we like our scapegoats). Let's hope he personally improves as a batsman and his captaincy does some good to the team!

Re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

I like him too not because we share same surname but I have seen him captaining junior sides and performing well..

:)

Its hard to argue with someone who has already made his mind up. So lets not waste our time with him! :D

Re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

I was disappointed by the poor turnouts on the 4 days of the Leeds test. If anything Pakistan (and Australia) were better supported at Lord's

Quote of the day (read on GEO):

***"Sher ki 1 test match ki victory, kangaroos ki 15 test matches ki victory se behtar hai"

Tipu Salman Butt :D*

awosome :rotfl:

Re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

One thing I realized is that the way Ponting was boo'ed by pakistani supporters was a bit rude for my taste. If the same had been done to Salman Butt by the Aussie supporters after they had won a match we'll all be lining up on GS calling them racist/rednecks etc etc. Although when we do our share of boos no one think of it as us being racist. They just say Pakistanis being mad cricket loving fans and that it, which is true. I think Ponting handled the boo's well and kept a cool head and a smile! Good stuff Punter!

:D

How do you know they were Pakistanis and not Australians?

Re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

Ponting Deserved that boo ......coz he himself made fun of Pakistani Team after the press conference conducted after the 1st test so he literally deserved it

Oh I didn't know that....what did he say in his press conference about our team?

Regardless of who booed Ponting @ Headingley, I think he does not always play within ‘the spirit of the game’. I do not like the way he frequently puts pressure on umpires to reverse a decision. That is not on. He gets away with it because he is a star player. Decent captains like Clive Lloyd, Imran Khan and Mark Taylor almost never did that. Taylor was an Aussie but he always played the game within the spirit of the game. He was very level-headed. Gilchrist was another honest and fair Aussie who often walked himself when he knew the ball had snicked his own bat
