Regardless of who booed Ponting @ Headingley, I think he does not always play within ‘the spirit of the game’. I do not like the way he frequently puts pressure on umpires to reverse a decision. That is not on. He gets away with it because he is a star player. Decent captains like Clive Lloyd, Imran Khan and Mark Taylor almost never did that. Taylor was an Aussie but he always played the game within the spirit of the game. He was very level-headed. Gilchrist was another honest and fair Aussie who often walked himself when he knew the ball had snicked his own bat

That stat shows it all.. thats how even the Aussies felt about their captain after that controversial Sydney test against India.
