Have you ever questioned your belief?

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

I said generally, because its a continuous process. Also from an impartial point of view Religion did not eradicate slavery in the arab world, it was pretty much existent until 19th century. And muslim empires have also been waging wars, destroying cultures, committing atrocities etc.

So yes there can be made a case of man progressing slowly and surely over time, without that being my main point. Its all about looking at it impartially or not. But in nowhere is it implied that all societies are progressing in the same pace or same manner.

People who are willing to admit their mistakes, and make amendments will succeed more than those who are not.

Are the norms of the society more humane today than they were in the 7th century? Obviously you are free to disagree, but I don’t how such a mindset benefits muslims.

Obviously on a issue like this one can only make general statements without being insensitive, so I’ll refrain from commenting on this topic further, because there is not much else which can be added without getting granular, and I don’t see that leading to anything good.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

I am coming after Islam? Are you kidding? Look again, I didn’t start this thread. You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. It is not my fault that you hold religion in such high regard while I treat it like any other interesting topic of discussion. I have avoided religious debates on this forum since I joined back. I am going to keep that up. It is indeed pointless to argue if you are going to continue to disregard other religions and hold Islam as the truth.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

I read them. Its not necessarily about laws, its about societies and the mindset of the people. I also made a similar case in my very first post in this thread, so yes I don’t necessarily disagree with pcg.

In any case I’ ve put forth my view, and it was never my intention to hurt sentiments.

I think its better I stop pursuing the discussion since we are all still debating in a civilized tone.

And I have no personal gain by this, I just believe its something which would benefit muslim societies.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

It’s amusing to me that when asked for proof, people start quoting stuff right from the very book that is being questioned. :smack: I said prove it by other means! If you can’t, then it’s just as true or false as any other scripture.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

sorry theo… this thug-ish behaviour .. is really disappointing.
Taking shot at islam like an insider… you for got to mention what you were raised with and how wrong that was… What ?..mom dad Christians ?? thats way baby girl can accept a “man” as a guide. ?

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

I have said this before and I am going to say it one more time, I am going to get into details because that will turn this debate ugly. Plus, what we are talking about is common sense. No sources can be taken at face value unless there is considerable amount of evidence backing it up, otherwise it’s all hearsay. I am not the one trying to convince anyone of anything. You are.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

Do you understand what having an empirical proof of existence of God implies?
It means God is in front of you, asking you to follow His order, and you have choice to disobey Him in front of Him. Then no hereafter, and He punishes you instantly on disobeying His order. This is what you want?
Or you want Him serving and helping you in your daily matters? help in earning money and getting food?

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

Bro, I am sorry that my posts intimidate you but they are in no way thug-ish. I was born and raised in a Muslim family, read the Quran, did my research and rejected it fairly early on in life. Most people don’t begin to question until they are in adulthood. Unless there has been a change in Islam in the last 13 years or so, I am pretty sure I read the same stuff you read. I didn’t respond to this question of yours because I don’t see how it’s relevant. Unlike eastern11, I am not going to entertain your irrelevant questions. :mocking:

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

Who you kidding???
Can you disagree with country you live in… with out soiling your socks ???
At freaking time in history Govts had people by BALLS as it is now…

Have some honesty..21st century style…

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

perhaps you meant “annoy” ? or “make me lose respect of you”?

you said “one cell organism would be questioned ?”
even an 10 year old muslim kid would know, if you don have choice you wont be judged.

I don’t buy your i was muslim story…

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

If that’s the kind of God you believe exists, then yes! That’s what’s required here to prove that Quran is his word and guidance for all mankind… Just because I don’t believe in your version of God and hell and heaven, doesn’t mean I don’t believe in God at all. Maybe I do, maybe I don’t. I will keep you guessing. Your idea of God came from one man, whose idea came from others. You and I have no way of knowing what God is and what it wants like I said early on.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

I think you believe in man god. like 1+1+1=1 thing…
Make my day and define Jesus(as) to me… you seem to know enough…
so go..

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

MashaAllah. Is this what Quran teaches us? I think it was other way round.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

ok maybe my conduct was bad…

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

So back to my question. Care to answer it?

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

Seriously? Now you are back tracking. You stated quiet seriously you feel every source has an agenda so you don’t trust it. So what sources do you trust that don’t have an agenda?

I am not trying you convince you of anything as it is futile. You are dogmatic as a mullah. What I am questioning is your statements.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

How about this?

BTW, don;t you think ‘being better person’ is a vague term. Even those who commit atrocities consider themselves reformist.

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

A source needs to proven true by other means than just saying it’s from God or quoting verses from itself. This is the third I am stating that. For such a humongous claim, it will require more effort than just hearsay and repetitive arguments. Not dogmatic at all, bruh! Quite the opposite actually..

Re: Have you ever questioned your belief?

I don’t believe in a man god. I have been against trying to define what god is. I have kept saying it’s not possible for us to know. What do you mean by define Jesus? In what way?
