Hall, Smith banned, Youhanna fined./Hall loses appeal(Merged)

Yeah i saw that too. I was like “Shoaib Please don’t retaliate, instead tell this to Umpires, please, please…and next thing shoaib did was complained the umpire (Daryl) and surprisingly he didn’t took any notice of it.

Is say acha hota shoaib hee doo chaar suna daita. See that’s why I was in favor of Pakistan complaining about HALL, because you let them go one time they will do it over and over again.

he is cute and smart

In fact, if i am not mistaken Nel was shown sharing a laugh with Daryl Hair when he went to him to get his cap after the over. After that he looked at shoaib and uttered some more nonsense.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: ICC bans Hall and Smith, fines Youhana

freakin guyz . deserved ev bit of it. gd for us as well! i hope inzi can play, n some1 pls push hafeez lower down the order!

I have mixed feelings on the matter. On the one hand the they should be punished maximum for tarnishing the game's repute, which has not been done. While on the other hand, it'll be unfortunate not to have a full strength side for the final. With such a crunch game, I'd rather see Pakistan beat a full strength side than a depleted one.

You have a point there. The game will go on. But I would personally be more satisfied if we beat their full strength side fair and square. This will not leave any space for people to babble later on about how we could only beat an under-stength team and what not.

Does it mean that Smith will not play the 5th ODI ? :konfused:

Yes.

Smith and Hall banned while Youhana gets a fine

Wisden Cricinfo staff

October 11, 2003

Graeme Smith and Andrew Hall have both received bans, while Yousuf Youhana has been been fined for an incident involving the three during the second one-day international at Lahore. In a press release, the ICC has said that Smith was banned for one ODI, Hall for one ODI and two Tests and Youhana fined 50% of his match fee.

The penalties were imposed following a hearing in Rawalpindi on Friday evening. They relate to charges brought by ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed based on video evidence of an incident that took place when Pakistan were batting during the second ODI between the sides.

“Having considered all of the evidence I have found all three players in breach of the ICC Code of Conduct,” said Clive Lloyd, the match referee. "The provisions of the Code are there to ensure that the game is played in the right spirit and the penalties imposed reflect the fact that on this occasion these players acted in a manner that was not consistent with their obligations as professional cricketers.

“They need to be aware at all times that it is part of their professional duty to convey the right image to the public, particularly young fans, and that such behaviour will not be tolerated.”

Graeme Smith was found guilty of a Level 2 offence (CC 2.9) relating to the use of obscene or offensive language. Smith has been handed a one ODI ban and fined 50% of his match fee.

**Andrew Hall was found guilty of two breaches of the Code. The first was a Level 2 breach for inappropriate and deliberate physical contact (CC 2.5) for which he was banned for one ODI. The second was a Level 3 offence for conduct that brings the game into disrepute (C2) for which he has been banned for two Test matches. * There is no right of appeal for a Level 2 breach of the Code but there is a right of appeal for a Level 3 breach. If there is no appeal the bans apply consecutively with immediate effect * .This means that both Smith and Hall will miss the final ODI of the series that will be played on Sunday. **

Yousuf Youhana was found guilty of a Level 1 offence of bringing the game into disrepute (C2) and has been fined 50% of his match fee.

Actual Statement

About time, justice has been served, even though Hall has got off lightly. The question is why didn't Lloyd take action when he witnessed it in lahore, why did he have to wait for ICC to raise the issue before taking action?

So let me get this straight, if I claim a catch that I know is not taken cleanley I get banned for 5 games, but if I commit a level two offense i.e innapropriate and deliberate conatct with a player I only get 1 ODI and two tests ??? huh.. well I guess we can play someone like Junaid Zia and have him walk up to Kallis or Gibbs and punch them square in the face. Big deal if he gets 1 ODI and two test match ban.

I think Clive Lyod was fairly linient in handing out punishments. I agree Andrew Hall received a small punishment for his actions, but then again so did Youhana. I didnt realise this until I saw the whole drama and dean Jones was fair in saying that yousaf is guilty of waiving his bat in the face of Andrew Hall.

smith gone, hall gone , yoyo fined...kool...smith cant play next match...

smith and hall wont be able to play next one day match in pindi....big news...hal cant play both test matches either.... khass kam jahan pak....

Finally justice is served. Hall got off easy but so did Youhana. Youhana waived the bat in the face Andrew Hall, so he is lucky he only got fined. But Hall started the whole drama and thus should have been given a harsher punishment.

Although I think that CLIVE LLOYED should have noticed this right after the game and although I think that HALL as got off lightly but still I welcome the step. As HALL was the one who started all this drama and YOUHANA was actually reacting to what HALL did, I think penalty to YOUHANA is also justified because YOUHANA should have left this to umpires rather than retaliating (but then he has to be saint).

One more observation whenever ASIAN players are found in breach of the ICC Code of Conduct they always get MAX penalty allowed but NON-ASIAN players get off to MIN penalty allowed.
