it really irks me when non hijabis have to judge every little thing that hijabis do - even if its behind closed doors.

Ok people are either being defensive in response to the OP’s question or skipping straight to their “live and let live” philosophy.
1: Can someone please answer whether this is perfectly acceptable in the light of Islam or not?
2: Obviously we all live and let live, that is why women dancing in front of na-mehram men is perfectly acceptable these days so why not women revealing skin in front of other women? But justifications isn’t what the OP is looking for. Even if she’s just trolling, I’m not, I genuinely want to know what the awra/hayaa criteria for women in front of other women is. This thread should perhaps be in R&S.

The OP needs to go to these ‘parties’ all covered up. Give them a nice lecture on hijab. Or avoid altogether these ‘parties’.

Errr they don’t write on invitation that we’ll be dressed “half naked” so come if you wanna come or get lost.
I don’t understand why people are getting so offended, its a genuine question, I have plenty of goras who wonder about same thing. They just don’t know enough about Arab culture, which exotically so rock n roll.

BBQ - it was pretty straight forward to me. Muslim women in front of Muslim have to cover up from their navel to their knees, just like if they were with their men mehram Muslim women in front of non-muslim women, have to be all covered up except for their hands, face and feet, just like with a non mehram.
Jolie - Well next time in the future, the OP just shouldnt attend these events. And its not only in Arab culture, South asian girls are doign the same thing.
IMO - as long as they cover up their awrah, i have no issue with it.

actually a lot of hijab free parties do say on the invite and the party is hijab free and to “dress to impress” or wear something “slutty” or along those lines.

Those are probably classless idiots who write on invitation to wear something “slutty” or they’re just freshies. Well ‘dress to impress’ could mean all sorts of things for different people.

I think you probably meant dress ‘sexy’, because dressing sexy and slutty are two completely different things.

But your judgment towards anyone who not as ‘classy’ as you, is what’s rude. So please, before wearing a Murad dress, take a class on etiquette’s.

Hehe, I always wonder what my hijabi friends/acquintances really look like with their hair down and all decked out. I would go to these parties JUST for that.
