Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY...
No, it's not... because the words are not being spoken to you directly. It shouldn't bother you unless you are the recipient.
Who are they for, if not the other guests?
Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY…
why do so many of you just come back to “if you don’t like it don’t go”?
Is it because you don’t have any other reasonable feedback to the debate? Or is it just because you can’t/won’t say, “Yeah, you’re right. It probably is a shock to see hijabi girls behaving this way if you don’t already know about it.”
I don’t think the intent of the thread is to decide whether or not to attend such parties…
Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY...
having high regards for yourself and not others. i dont think Allah SWT would want that. He'd want us to be humble.
high regards in what respect?
oh I just got it.
there's the problem Afshi......when you hold yourself in high regard means you have respect for yourself, not that you think you are all that......not pompous and mighty.
I don't think you understood the term.
Read the last paragraph of Mehnaz's post 242. I'm saying exactly the same thing.
Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY...
its all about comfort levels. i have friends where this kind of language will be improper to them. and then other friends which dont mind this language.
it has nothign to do with class and thinking your better than anyone else because u dont use that word.
Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY...
You dont have the kind of relationship where you can call each other "whores or sluts" then. Simple! Some people do have that relationship whether you understand it or not. My cousin and her friends call each other all the cuss words under the sun. I have absolutely no right to judge them. They are calling each other that and are not rubbing it in my face. Why should I care what they say to each other?
You should care as a woman because one day, someone outside of your cousin's group of friends will come along and call them a *****/slut. Then what? Trust me, they will hurt and then they will realize that their own behaviour contributed to someone else coming along and verbally abusing them.

Nope, then that somebody outside of their cricle is a jacka$$. I know these girls well. They can handle it when a problem arise. Typically, girls who have that kind of relationship with other girls have enough self-esteem to defend themselves when someone outside of their circle tries to pull one on them...
Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY...
this debate would never end.
one can never understand the other unless they have experienced it.
so unless one has worn the hijab and felt the need to attend such parties where it is Islamically acceptable to wear such clothes, then they would understand.
i think this thread is nwo changed to the slut word debate.
Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY...
i dont even get that. if your kid calls you mom, does that mean some other kid will come by one day and call you mom? no.
i wonder if there are any sociology majors in here. a little bit of teasing is absolutely normal bonding behavior amongst peers in casual settings. if you have never experienced it, you have never had real and honest friendships.

some peoople are comfortable, some are not.
to each their own.
But why does ANYONE need to wear these clothes??? Why is there a need to wear these kinds of clothes around other women?

heh, no because it's none of your business to judge them. I am an atheist, if I wanted I could judge the hell out of those Hijabi women. I don't because not being a jedgmental idiot is showing respect. Judging others is never respectful unless you are a judge on American Idol :D

The number of bullying seminars and workshops I've attended have shown that it's the jokes that make it ok for the really hurtful stuff to be said.
Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY...
teasing doesn't equate to swearing/name calling queer. again, i'm past that point in my life when i used to engage in that kind of behaviour cause i've seen the side affects of it. no thanks.
Re: Hajabi girls going half-naked in ONLY LADIES PARTY...
I guess I don't understand this "no judgement" line. Maybe "judgement" isn't the right word. But we all interpret others based on clothing, body language, as well as speech, etc. You can't tell me that this wouldn't affect/inform your understanding of a person's personality.
Like I said, they're allowed. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't tell me something more about them.
