but TLK, in this case, its a party for women that wear the hijab outside of the house. ive been to parties like that, and no girl dresses up to be sexy and to reveal their bodies. They wear nice and pretty clothes. So they are low cut and sleeveless. Whats the big issue with that?
ur right. it is all about intention. and the intentions that hijabis girls have wearing these types of clothes at a private party with only muslim women is not like what some people in this thread have about wanting to look sexy and slutty.
There's nothing wrong with that attire in my mind.

Am I stopping them from dressing how they like? Nope. I'm just saying that it tells me something about them.
We send messages to people about us, based on the words we use, the clothes we wear, etc. Sure, live and let live. That doesn't mean you're not telling people something about yourself when you're reveling in the idea of dressing like a slut.
well if i would see someone on the streets dressed like a "slut" with their TnAs hanging out, then i would have the above notion. but in the privacy of their own home, i just dont see it.

because they are allowed to. it not a sin. they want to be able to wear nice clothes without having to wear a cardigan, jacket, turtleneck all the time, hang out with their friends and have a nice evening in.

Then when it comes to hijabi girls in girls only party, its a topic on its own that how much skin is too much skin even for a girls only party.

No, it means wearing something revealing with the intention of revealing. There are ladies from poor background (not to mention topless ladies of south American tribes) who might be wearing revealing clothes but the intention is not..
in fact, sluttiness is not the attire, its the attitude and one can be totally slutty in full clothes and one can be a bashful person in a two piece biniki suit
What about pool parties? You certainly cannot swim in a burQa, is waering a one-piece or two piece going to be slutty? cz after all, it reveals the body but the intention is to swim....not to show off the body.

I know a woman who sometimes has her hijab on and on weddings and special occassion she takes it off. She grew up in the UAE. I don't pass any judgment on her. I actually feel for the Hijabi ladies. It must be very difficult to be so devoted to hijab in scorching heat. It must feel nice to let your hair down sometimes and let the wind blow on your skin

You know I totally get your point and to some extent I agree with the not wanting to be associated as a slut....and it reminds me lol a few years back a friend gave me a "slutty" shirt for my birthday...it wasn't even that slutty, but the fact that she kept calling it a slutty shirt and how it fit my personality so well (because I was the only one of the group who didnt' wear hijab or 50 layers of clothes) it really bugged me...alot. So I understand why no one wants to be associated with that term..
In my experience, most of the all-girl parties I went to were in college and, aside from a few women-only dholkis/mehndis as I got older, those kind of parties are limited exclusively to that age group...and at that stage in life, I think most girls (and guys) are stlil deciding and figuring out what their values are, what are hteir comfort levels and such...
"Slut" IS a very sensitive word, its one of those things that you can use as a joke, only if you know the person won't mind it and if they mind it, you apologize nad never use it again...rather than argue about why it bothers them. respecting ones comfort level is much more important than not using swear words.

I think a lot of this comes from the culture. Alot of arabs have no issues wearing short dresses/mini-skirts out in public. I went to an Irani/Arab concert just recently and I have never seen so many butt cheeks in my life, that's how short the skirts/dresses were. Even hijabi girls were going wild dancing because it is culturally acceptable for them.
I've read this whole thread and I just don't see the point in this debate. I'm getting old.
