Re: different types of hair extension

Human/synthetic hair extensions individually put in

When glued in it’s recommended to have them replaced every 3-4 months tho they will stay in longer (I’ve had mine in in the past 6+ months with no problems or matting), an advantage with these is that they can be v.long-lasting, a negative is the higher cost (tho synthetic is cheaper and lighter feeling, if u have brown or black hair human hair tends to look more natural whilst synthetic tends to look more shiny tho this can sometimes dull down as time goes on) and the longer time it takes to put in.. Alternatives to having them glued in are having them tied in with little knots or ‘shrinkies’ (little plastic tubes that shrink around the bond when heat is applied to them) and micro-rings (again little rings, but made of metal and ur own hair is put thru with the extension then the ring is clamped with a plier). With the individually put in extensions u do really have to look after them properly or they’ll start to get matted and look ratty (like Britney Spears).

Extensions put in with shrinkies and micro-rings will not last as long as glued in extensions, prob 3 months absolute max whilst I know a couple of ppl who have had glued in extensions for nearly a year lol, the bonds will obviously grow down but not usually slip out unlike the other two methods (how long they last also depends on the quality of the hair, some of the cheaper ones will look awful even at just 4 months).. Glued-in extensions are more likely to damage hair tho (esp when taken out and if the hairdresser is not experienced enough).. Please stay away from ‘Great Lengths’ glued in extensions, these are an absolute nightmare, the hardest to take out and can take bits of ur own hair with them as the bonding adhesive is so strong.. Examples of good brands are Racoon (human) and Dome (synthetic)..

**Human/synthetic hair wefts

**Glued or sewn in, often v. natural looking and quicker to put in, but if it’s windy and ur own hair blows around u can end up like this:

**Clip in extensions

**Super quick and easy (and usually much much cheaper) to put in but the obvious disadvantage is that u have to keep taking them out. Jessica Simpson’s are really good but they are one of the more expensive brands, u can pick up others for a third of the price. There are also extensions available now that are attached to a wire that u can just flip into place so u can have long hair in literally seconds..

Generally with any human hair extensions u can heat style them, straighten them etc (and often dye them darker tho bleaching or lightening them can be near impossible as they’re chemically treated) whilst with synthetic there are v.few brands u can mess around with in the same way, they will tend to melt if too much heat is applied. Synthetic does feel a lot lighter than human hair tho and often looks shinier and glossier (it is plastic after all lol)..

I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

I am so sick and tired of my thin hair, I'm always putting those mousse hair thickener stuff in my hair to make it look thicker, but of course natural thick hair is so different...I tried getting layers cut into my hair, but that just makes it look volumized but makes my hair feel thinner...I don't want volumized hair, I want thick hair

I understand it may be genetics to have thicker hair, but is there anything I can do, any remedies that you guys know of (besides extensions) to get thicker hair??? I want it soo bad!!!

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

Adding too many layers can make fine hair appear even thinner.

Unless it's a situation where your hair used to be thicker and became thin.....you might be able to reverse it. Challenging to do so if it's a hair loss condition such as thinning hair, etc. IF....you've always had thin hair....then that's genetics and hard to control.

You can try taking a hair vitamin and iron supplement. Sometimes hair can become thinner even if the iron count is borderline deficient. Check with your doctor first, before taking an iron pill. Include plenty of leafy greens and protein (eggs, chicken, salmon, quinoa, etc) in your diet. You can try applying egg to your hair to condition it and give it some bounce. Volumizing shampoo. Some people have seen more dramatic volume with using Mane n Tail shampoo ( I haven't tried it though).

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

appyl mehyndi twice a week but not the chemical one..it will increasw ur hair volume....

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

Thanks! I'm willing to try anything....mehndi gives your hair a red tint though doesn't it? Can I get mehndi that will still work without it making your hair red? Also I've never put mehndi in my hair...how do I make the paste and how long should I leave it in??? Thanks!

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

mehndi does help !!
try castor oil mixed with olive oil...takes time bt it'll help you if u apply continously
and if ur usin any kind of heatin products stop them!!

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

i got tired of all the layers,i decided to go one length .And my hairs get thin as the length grows but i am liking one length.my hair feel healthy.

i use coconut oil beofre i shower everytime.

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

no ya orignal mehndi duznt gives too much red color....try dis one widout any hesitation..hinnna is a natural conditioner:)

leave it for half an hour

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

But I think that mehendi and other natural remedies and even commercial products just temporarily "plump" up the hair. Whether your hair grows out thin in diameter or thick in diameter...is more of an internal body issue.

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

***Also, is it just me....or does anyone else also think that layers can make hair look frizzy from a distance even when it's not dry/frizzy. Anybody notice that? Also, I like freshly cut layers.....but after a while...they get on my nerves.

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

Natural Ways to Get Thicker Hair:

Massage with coconut oil:
Massaging your head and scalp regularly with coconut oil is one of the best methods to get thicker hair naturally. Heat the coconut oil a little and apply it on the scalp and hair by moving your fingers in circular motions. Once you have applied the oil, wet a towel in hot water, squeeze off the excess water and wrap it around your hair. Following this procedure at least one day in a week helps in making the scalp stronger, thus leading to thick and shiny hair.

Use Henna:
Henna is one of the best way to grow thicker hair naturally. Henna not only gives a natural color to the hair, but also helps in making it thick, soft and shiny. Applying raw egg yolk to the hair once a month also helps in the growth of thicker hair.

Type of comb to use:
The type of comb you use will make a difference to the quality of your hair. Hence, instead of combs which have teeth that are set very closely, you should buy a wide teeth comb made of wood or bone.

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

No its not just u, I totally agree layers make your hair look frizzy...esp when girls get those "razor cuts" where they slice your hair with a razor....u really have to work to make layers look nice, such as curling the ends or something....some girls who have a slight curl naturally look really nice in their layers!

Also. I got the "henna placenta hair mask" from sallys....it says it won't change your hair color....will this work as well as henna?

Re: I Want Thicker Hair! Please help!

But how come whEn I used to use coconut oil my bath plughole used to be covered in sooooo much hair as all my hair used to fall out in the shower.

Which cocking oil do u lot use? The enriched oil which you have to heat up or the cocunt oil liquid one?

Hair extensions

Kindly share you experiences if you have ever had hair extensions. Did you go for clip in ones, were they guled on, extendshells (Extendshell is threaded onto your natural hair), were they weaved in?

Re: Hair extensions

I bought hair extensions from Sally Hansens, Had them glued in from the salon but I'm not sure if she did a bad job or if its suppose to be that way, but the hair started coming off within 1-2 days. Later I ordered the hair pins from ebay to sew the extensions in, they work just fine now, but my hair is growing so I haven't worn them in a while. Never tried the threaded ones.

Re: Hair extensions

Glued in human hair extensions (3-4 months but have kept them in a lot longer as well.. they can last agess when done correctly), heat sealed synthetic/monofibre extensions (again several months).. Prefer and use the latter now.. so light, they feel brilliant and are super shiny but not so many options with styling as they can melt under too much heat..

The sewn in method isn't quite as common in the UK but I think they look good.. Have never tried it tho..

Re: Hair extensions

I have read on a Muslim forum that hair extensions, whether synthetic or human hair is haram as you will be presenting a false image so as to deceive people?

Can someone shed light on this as I am thinking about clip on hair extensions for special occasions, thanks x
