the maturity of users here are better compare to other forums,.. very well managed, it feels more like a closed group of friends.

Yeah , it gives the feel of a close knit community ... The maturity level of some users here is alot better then many other forums , as Firenze suggested ... Also , I feel in some forums here , the moderators are working very hard to keep up the quality of the content and that definitely brings GS in a league of its own ...

In other social networking sides, people are friends outside and then enhanced their friendship through that site. On GS, its the other way. As others mentioned, people meet here and then become such good friends in real life. That is got to be the most powerful aspect of this site.

…for me it would have to be conversing with “desis” around the globe- its given me a long sought opportunity to “time pass” but within a desi forum- my first experience of this kind…having said this… “time passing” with guppies that are fun & good people:k:… Thanks

Connecting me with my roots, cos i don't really have a whole lot of desiness around me.
And GS is such a melting pot of people from different walks of life, so it's nice that that i get to converse with such a range of different people.

I learned a few valuable life skills on GS. I learned when to give up and let it go. Nothing is an ego issue for me anymore.

I haven't been on any other forum, so can't really give a comparison.
As far as GS's contribution goes, it gives me a chance to interact with people from so many different walks of life and diverse age groups which is not quite possible for an otherwise introvert person like me in real life. Most importantly it keeps me sane :@:

Getting a 2:2 average in my second year of university.... the year I discovered Gupshup, and killing my chances of getting a first class degree.

Like MM said, my first and (i think) only forum. GS has taught me a lot, the people have taught me a lot. It's helped me meet amazing friends/acquaintances, learn more about my culture, meet people who go through the same things AKA 'the desi mentality'. How to deal with things in the sense that we keep our culture and religion in mind. The mature and immature responses. The jokers, the serious, the clever, the all rounders, the music lovers, the 'mullahs'...
You just feel right at home...
