Got a new pet.... "puppy"

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

GenSec, read the above post by The Old Man. Accept the hadith.

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

Accept the hadith? When hadith contradicts with the Quran, its kind of hard to accept.

Last couple of days, i've been doing research on this hadith and the easy way to tell that its not authentic is simple.

in short, the hadith goes like this, that for four days the Prophet (PBUH) did not recieve the wahi. They look under his bed to find a puppy. Washed the spot where the dog was, and then the wahi came upon him.

My research:
After Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) became a prophet, in all texts you find that he lived his life very simple. He slept on a chitai (a bedding layed out on the ground).

Its kind of hard not to notice a dog under ur chitai for four days eh?
I asked around as much as possible , and then cross referenced it with my findings, and its obvious that, the hadith stated above is not authentic.

Re: Got a new pet… “puppy”

What did the Prophet (PBUH) state?
How are dogs suppose to be treated?
So far no one has been able to produce reference as how the Prophet told us to treat dogs?

scroll down a bit

oh c’mon people are we still gona believe fabricated hadith that contradict with the quran?

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

GenSec and CricPlayer, OldMan is a christian.

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

and?

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

If allah calls dogs and pigs haraam and najis why did he create them? also dogs, domesticated or wild are somewhere or the other on this earth ... so does this mean that angels, who nearest to God, hold gods creation in contempt?
Also after the dog dies, what happens to it's soul? does it go to heaven? and if it goes to heaven, then dont angels enter heaven also?!!! Or according to Islam, does a dog not have a soul?

Interesting theory, this....

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

hey buddy ur totally off there... sorry to burst ur bubble
i dont know what religion u belong to, but like in all religions, they tell you what is good and what is bad, the real test is when u choose.

if Allah calls dogs and pigs najis/haram?
Allah never called dogs najis/haram, no where in the Quran.
Pigs? Yes they are haram, but they are not haram to touch, they are just haram to eat. And that too is backed up as to when one can't eat pig. Science today also backs up the claims.

we're having enough trouble in this tread keeping the dog as a pet b4 it dies, lol and you're already worrying about where it goes after death? c'mon!

Re: Got a new pet… “puppy”

Well, if it is not clearly stated, then I suppose you have two choices:

  1. Accept what the most highly regarded teachers of your religion say about the issue, or

  2. Do your own research, be openminded while doing it, and stick to what you determined as long as your conscience is clear.

I myself love Staffies…

what's the point? All the hadiths that people have posted, you have claimed were fabricated. You will not be satisfied with anybody's answers unless they justify what YOU are doing/ what YOU believe.

Since that seems to be the case, do what YOU want to do. You are going to anyways, even if someone were to post a hadith and a Qur'anic verse to prove you wrong.

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

And we are discussing this from a muslim POV.

Re: Got a new pet… “puppy”

hmmm I thought only Humans had/has/have soul. Is that not the case? Might be a dumb question but enlight me please since I am not sure about this.

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

Here I dugg up an article by Mufti Ebrahim Desai (askimam.org)

All creatures are the creation of Allah Taãla and do deserve the recognition of being a creation of the Almighty. As much as Muslims detest even the sight of pigs - it is the creation of Allah Taãla - and because Allah has placed life into it, we cannot inflict pain nor torture the pig. Similarly Allah Taãla created the dog from among His creation. This does not mean that we should love the dog. It is perhaps the indoctrination of the Western culture that 'The dog is Man's best Friend'. The theory that 'dogs are very dependent on Human affection' is a myth - again culture and custom has helped to develop this unnatural behaviour. Allah Taãla the Creator of this Universe - having created the dog would surely have known that the dog requires Human affection and love to exist in this world.

Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam) would have advised us, Muslims, to keep dogs as pets. On the contrary, we are instructed not to keep dogs as pets and 'love' them as exemplified by the non-Muslims. Remember our life is structured and bound by the Shariah i.e. The Noble Qurãn and the beautiful example of Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam).

*Consider these Ahaadith: *

Hadhrat Abu Talha (Radhiyallaahu Ánhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, "Angels do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or an animate picture. (Sahih Bukhari Hadith no. 2986)

Hadhrat Ibn Abbas (Radhiyallaahu Ánhuma) reports from Hadhrat Maimoona (Radhiyallaahu Ánha) that once Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam) became sad; and said that Jibra'eel (Álayhis Salaam) promised to meet him at night but did not turn up. "By Allah what has kept him back," said the Prophet (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam). Then he realised a puppy was under his bed. He ordered that the puppy be removed and the area be sprinkled with water. In the afternoon when Jibra'eel (Álayhi Salaam) came, Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam) enquired as to the delay. Jibra'eel (Álayhi Salaam) said that we, the group of Angels do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or pictures. (Sahih Muslim Hadith no.3928)

In the light of these Ahaadith and other narrations it is not permissible to keep dogs as pets. The household is deprived of the Mercy of Allah Taãla. However, Jurists have stated that it is permissible to keep a dog, sell dogs and rear them for security purposes, farming and hunting. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah vol.8 pg.263) The saliva of a dog is Najis (impure). If it touches the clothes or body, that portion also becomes impure and must be washed.

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

GenSec, I posted the above because I read that YOU researched and came up with the conclusion that a Sahih Muslim hadith is fabricated... when scholars say it is Sahih...

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

if that was the case i wouldn't be posting here to see what others think
and who says i came here for someone to change my mind? just want to see what islam says about dogs
and ur right i'm not gona believe a hadith that contradicts with the quran.

oh and, its sad to see how people are so blind by turning a cultural "NO" into a religious one

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

People have given you many hadith and you think that you have the authority to declare them as insufficientor contradictory. People have also given you the story of the men in the cave in Surah Kahf, yet once again, that seems to be insufficient for you too. That story merely mentions dogs but does not talk about whether or not to keep them as pets. That's why you want other references but there isn't any except for in the hadith. This is why I said why do you keep asking for proof when you reject hadith? Either way, I was not born in Pakistan and I hate any kind of cultural biddah's that Pakis do so I don't have any cultural biases as far as my deen goes. But, nice try. I base my deen strictly on Qur'an and the Sunnah of Rasul'Allah (SAW).

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

Seriously GenSec, if you are a scholar then please tell us. If not then in my humble opinion you should follow the Sunnah of our Rasool(pbuh).

Re: Got a new pet… “puppy”

:k: the word is spelled i g n o r a n c e
turn a blind eye and be a follower just like you eh? without investigating, and just quietly accepting something that doesn’t make sense?

Re: Got a new pet… “puppy”

Does not make sense?

Tell me does it make sense to pray towards the kaaba?

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

you got me!

Re: Got a new pet.... "puppy"

No I didn't. It is the Muslim inside you who did. Allahuakber.
