Going abroad to UK or USA

**
come to Harvard...i used to teach there ;) haha aaaaawwwwwww...so u must be missing London. how about world famous Oxford?**

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

I hate Oxford University because Bhuttos went there. Cambridge University and Warwick have BEAUTIFUL HUGE LUSH CAMPUSES which American universities lack. American universities are more structured for city and concrete jungle life. I am torn between choosing a lush green huge campus in UK where I can find serenity and by being in a fast metropolitan city like Chicago's university.

**
are u gonna be doing ur PhD in Landscaping? hehe...a student is too busy within the confines of the 4 concrete walls to raise his/her head to look outside.

ine serious advice...its a long winter here [around 5 months of snowing] so once its start snowing then these things don't matter much and when its time to see some greens its also time to pack up and leave. so, if u decide to come to Chicago, give a serious thought to weather conditions in the windy city since u live in Dubai these days.**

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

I don't care about weather LOL. Will handle it. Oh btw for me university lush greenery matters. I do not study in the library. I sit on the benches in front of the fountain or I sit cross legged on the grass in front of the communications building and study. I like looking at greenery. That reminds me I took a picture of a bird in university today and all the kaalas were staring at what I was doing LOL.

I am not that kind of student. Fine, I do get 4.0 but I am not a complete dork and nerd. Book lover geek who sits in library all day all night :p

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

The most scenic campus that I know of which looks over the Pacific ocean is of Pepperdine in Mailbu, California. check it out Pepperdine University

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

OMG Funguy I think I am in love! ^ :jano: If I go to this university I am going to be in heaven. Too bad it’s a Christian university?!

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

I don't know neither care if it's a Christian university...don't even know what makes a university a Christian University...I think most private institutions are started by some org but it doesn't mean they teach religion only. You may want to apply at the Quad-e-azam university or Allama Iqbal Open University if you are bent on non-Christian institutions. Hell, why even think of UK or USA if you are so narrow minded. Go to Islamia Jamhooriya Pakistan.

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

Oh right you are a Non Muslim. It clearly says on the website that it is a Christian University instilling Christian values etc in administration and studies. I am not narrow minded was just thinking. Thank you for degrading me though. I think I will stick with my original choice, Northwestern. The campus is quite lush and near the ocean.

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

Here is the history of Northwestern :
After a benediction, attorney Grant Goodrich read a resolution stating, "The interests of sanctified learning require the immediate establishment of a university in the Northwest under the patronage of the Methodist Episcopal Church."

Every private school is affiliated with some Christian cause but it doesn't mean they are religious institutions. That's all I am trying to say.

You just proved yourself to be a true zealot by declaring someone a non-muslim.

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

Yes you are right but NWU does not say on it's website that they are a Christian university. That's all I am trying to say. I do not believe in words like zealot. Plus I am looking at it from my point of view, I am a girl and a muslim girl who wears hijab. Christian universities instilling Christian values in studies means course in religious studies etc so was wondering what a university being Christian means.

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

I wish you good luck. You know your situation better than anyone else. Sorry if I came across as rude. Not intended. :)

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

i did all my study in extreme environment and weather in canada. in india it was ok...i was in newfoundland which is an island extreme weather. i treasure one scene that i can never ever forget. i used to sit in my kitchen studying and when i lifted my head up i wud see icebergs floating bye in the atlantic ocean whic was at a stone's throw. i used to go on boat for whale watching. it was amazing and og yes, we used to go for salmon [fish] scooping. it was fun. i miss ma new-fun-land :)**

Funguy I have known you from quite some time now, even though we did not get a chance to interact much. Thank you. No, you did not come across as a rude person, I gather where you were coming from. I clarified my thought on the Christian university thing and thank you for sharing such a beautiful campus with me.

Fact- There are fantastic universities/colleges in and around london..u can do a quick search and see rankings.

Fact- US universities are not concrete jungles, even urban unis try and do a good job of bringing in nature, and in general urban US unis have better aesthetics to them than major urban british unis ( I have studied at both) . And there are major universities in US that have some amazing campuses, Duke, Berkeley, Colorado, Michigan, Princeton, UC santa cruz (go banana slugs, I am a summer term alumni :D), stanford, illinois, kansas, williams college, swarthmore, mt holyoke, brynmawr, just to name a few.

btw Northwestern’s campus is not exactly concrete jungle. here is an image of NW campus.

Aaah damn, all of a sudden Warwick seems so attractive. B'ham is just 20 minutes from Warwick?! Really? Someone told me it was 1 hour for some reason. I know Warwick is a prestigious university. What do you mean live in a spa?! LOL.

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA

Well maybe 30 mins but def not an hour! Does depend if ur travelling at rush hours but yes its easily commutable. I know fold who live in Warwick/Leamington spa and commute daily to B'ham!

Warwick has a twin village called Royal Leamington spa wich is very nice indeed!!! Like the Kensighton of London or even better!!

X2 Bhai in another thread I posted the same photograph. NWU campus actually looks better than Warwick’s campus in terms of being lush! It’s just that it is a hard decision for me!

See that is what I mean! I want a campus where I can do some sightseeing or see some greenery because sometimes when I am down, I like to look at nature or photograph nature. LOL 4.0 is not avg, it is the best GPA you can get :p

**
yes i know what u mean

i u averaged 4.0 in all ur courses...thats a great achievement and i commend u on that coz u did that inspite of the fact thair u gives us a lot of time on GS...its amazing :)**
