Re: giving milk to groom
My mom didn't let us do any rasms on my siblings' wedding.
She informed our side of the family and the in-laws of my siblings prior to the wedding as she didn't know any rasms (which is SO true) nor did she want any at the wedding. I think this was a wise decision from her side because...errm let me not go there.
But the in-laws did all the rasms that they wanted to in their own house. So all was good for the most part.
Re: giving milk to groom
At my wedding, sis got money for chunni tanna (Where you stop the baraat at the door with a dupatta and dont let them in until the dulha gives some money). I think she started with 500 and got 200 at the end. ANd for doodh pilai she asked for 25 cents, not sure if she got those. Like Lusi, ia lso think most of the money was distribted amongst my cousins etc.
even I got money out of those $200! poor choti, she had to distribute it among all of us. :D
by the way, at my sis' wedding, I got Rs. 5000(they started with Rs.10 though) and on my wedding my sis got Rs. 10,000(again, it started with Rs. 100)... I guess both my bil and my husband knew about the amount in advance so no big deal!

^ Are you talking USD/CD ya Rupees???? if its dollars....thats just mind boggling how anyone can get that much money! itnay kameenaY!
Well he wanted to give it to them and he didn't mind, probably he was thinking he is getting the girl (yeah well a girl who was a bit to expensive and not worth it). but he always says he doesnt have the money butt that day all the dollars came out automatically.
Yes those girls were kameenay and laalchi..they just jumped on us and like they were so tez they made it so big of a issue and got serious...we weren't even bothered about joota chori until they started running..like hey ran outside the hall, on the other street so you can imagine how desperate they were..probably theyy already made a wishlist and decided for the guy to pay for them like he still does for everything they do.
