Hey you guys can you help me out too with a name.... Me and hubby like these 3 names:
Arooj (would that be spelt Arooj or Urooj?)
Ayzah
We too like Leyla/Leila
What do you all think?
Oh choose Ayzah! It is such a beautiful name!
My daughters name is pronouced the same as Ayzah except we spell it Isa. But now I wish I had spelt it Ayzah which would have made it easier for everyone else! But everyone loves the sound of my daughter's name and she gets compliments for it all the time! Hehe! :)

Out of the 3 names.............I love Leyla the best. I like the way that the Arabs pronounce Leyla. I like the way that it is pronounced in the Quran. It's phonetically pronounced as "Lay-la" and it sounds graceful. BUT UNFORTUNATELY desi people pronounce it in a way that sounds rough, in my opinion. If that is not an issue with you..........I say GO WITH LEYLA. Plus.........not many desi parents are naming their daugthers, Leyla, these days............so it will be sound more different and unique.
My second choice would by Ayzah. Ayzah is basically like Faiza except is begins with an "A." And I've heard the name Ayzah before. It's a cute name......but I think Leyla sounds more elegant/charming/captivating.
What do you guys do if the name you love is rejected outright by the spouse? and vice versa?
Every name I like (boys and girls’) I already know someone with that name, ppl i dont like, close relatives, freinds etc..so i’d feel funny naming em that since apparently some desis think you steal their kids’ names.
i remember my friend was in tears because she wanted to name her baby girl something and her husband refused giving no good reason. lol! in the end she got to use that name as the middle name for the baby!
when we named our baby my husband and i liked the same name instantly. there was one name he liked, which i rejected because it was the name of a girl back in my collage days who i didn't like and that name would have reminded me of her constanly! but then hubby was fine with that and we moved onto another name.
I dont know the gender of my baby as yet but we have decided on a girl and a boy name.
There this name i always liked for girls and I when I told him abt it he refused saying that it doesn't sound nice with his name (her surname). Then he told me a name that he always liked for girls I rejected it since it sounded to me like a name of a body organ lol !
Then we both agreed on a girl name that we heard on TV. Boy's name was chosen by him and its nice so I didnt object to it.
^??
that happens in most cultures... babies have their father's last names.
unless you mean father's first name as a middle name? it doesn't happen often, i don't think... i don't know anyone who is pakistani and has a middle name, now that i think about it.
sara, hahaha i said work together, not just go with his first pick, esp. if its what you said it is!
^ A lot of my cousins in Pakistan are named that way. It's especially confusing because some of my mom's brothers have named their children that way and some have done the last name, so they all have different last names, eventho they are first cousins!
