Assalam Alikum everyone,
I have my Nikkah in September inshAllah and am in desperate need to help with planning my outfit. I have been holding off for a while and now I really need to have thing finalzed.
I don’t live in Pakistan and am too engrossed in my books to know about fashion and what’s in or not so I need YOUR help.
Do you “wedding experts” have any suggestions for a gharara? I want something with light kaam nothing too heavy.
What type of Kaam?
Color? (anything except red)
Where to get it made from?
Any other things that I should know.
I am totally lost!
Please post pictures, give suggestions, comments, advice, words of wisdom… basically anything.

I have tried.... and looked through the beautiful pictures but felt overwhelmed and confused. Most of the stuff is really kaam-heavy and that's not something that I want at the moment.

Totally understandable! Karma might be the one for you then- they have some lovely ghararas with not so much work on them. www.atelierkarma.com
It depends on your budget too- luckily, less kaam means less money too.

Thanks guys... but sadly I have looked at their clothes. The prices are a really high for me to pay for an outfit for a nikkah reception. The starting that they quoted me on was $1800 and in MY OPINION was not really worth.
I need a designer that is having a recession special =)

from having shopped in karachi in december, i can say that while it is pricier there now than you'd imagine, it is possible to get a beautiful gharara with decent amount of kaam on it in the $500-$1000 price range. my aunt is making my bff a gharara (cos bff is indian and can't get decent ghararas in india) and we bought the fabric (pure silk for shirt, pure silk jamavar for gharara, pure silk chiffon for dupatta) and the fabric was 4000 rupees on its own. dyeing, stitching and kaam are all extra but my aunt said around 40-60,000 rupees is entirely doable for a beautiful kaam-ofied gharara.
these days you can even get beautiful "beyl's" with kaam on them which you can easily have your tailor stitch on to the gharara and voila! you're done. the key is to know which shops to go too, which karigars to visit, and to have good taste lol
