I read this good news this morning here on gs. I am still at work so I haven't tried it on my tv yet and I am very excited. GeoTv was one of my favorite ones during my recent visit to Pakistan.
I did however find a pretty good website that actually logs all the changes that occur on the Dish Network broadcasting. It keeps archives of changes to the Dish Channel Chart.
Here is what it says:
2/25/04
- Geo TV, an Urdu language channel (Pakistan) has been uplinked and is now currently testing on channel 620 at 148 TP 19, 61.5° at tp. 19 and on channel 745 at 121° on tp 6. (ANON)
So it sure is here. Just hang in there and we will all be gettin it. The free trial period won't last for too long though. I wonder if its going to cost more than PrimeTV. I wonder if there is going to be a package deal.

dish500 catches sat 110 an 119. these satellites don't have desi programming on it. so you won't get Geo, or any other desi channel.
now if you already get desi programming, that means that you have Dish500 + Either 61.5 or 148 satellite as well. In that case, if you are a legal subscriber, you will have to wait, cuz for now #620 has Telemundo (spanish channel I guess). If your setup is not legal, then you have to add a specific string to get GeoTv, not just update your receiver.
(i'm no pro at this, so the information might be wrong)
yeah i have dish500 too probably + because i do get ptv prime and some arabic dubai based channels..
i dont know how long do i have to wait

620 is in testing phase right now .. but it is there ..
this is what a guy from the aforementioned website told me:

Ok, I am not getting GeoTV yet just like most of the guppies here. Lets keep this thread alive though. Lets each update update the thread when the ones aren't getting it start getting it.
I am very excited but disapointed at the same time to not have it yet.

Only the testers are getting geo tv why don't u people understand if u are a subcriber than u won't be able to see geo because its not offically launched by dishnetwork when it will be u will see it on ur guide and also on channel 580 which promotes international programming.
I hope this will help u understand why u are not getting it.
the tiers for geo is 2328

I know a lot of subscribers just like me and they are getting it while I am not. When I had Indian channel package and PrimeTV started in test mode I was getting it for more than a couple of months until it officially started. And how do you become a tester anyway? and what is tiers?
