Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Whatever the cause of fire, it is disgusting that nothing could be done to get those victims out.
They could have bulldozed holes in the walls for escape and air or control demolished part of the building.
People could have brought improvised tall ladders by joining many together or thrown up ropes so victims didn't have to jump from 3rd floor.

This was absolute incompetence of authorities, government and general public.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

I second that :(:k:

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Sorry for being blunt but Pakistanis have a tendency to be inactive and silent tamaash-beens whether it is street theatre, a mob lynching or a building on fire.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

agree with TS, we are a dead nation. alot of lives could have been saved, if they had taken timely action.

there are still so many people who are missing, none of govt officials reached the place, they could have set up a camp where victim families could go and get some information regarding their lost ones, families are going from one hospital to another, looking for their loved ones, these families are already going through so much, first the pain of losing your loved one and then these incompetent authorities make them go through this painful process. kio haal nahi.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

3..1..0 lives lost. Just like that. And no one (in power) gave a dam.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

yes, its only a matter of days before our media and people return to life as usual and indulge once again in political wrestling matches, celebrity gossips and fashions shows.

Why are there no protests against these slave masters? Why isn’t there an expressive emotive drive to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice? Why is it always "the West" that is the subject of anger demonstrations? If the worst factory disaster in the world does not spur social action, then I don't know what would !! We are indeed a dead nation and our indifference towards loss of human life is a major culprit in the current state of affairs.

**I am talking about income tax not sales tax. I have used exactly the words that guy used. I don't live in Pakistan and left Pakistan for a long period of time. Don't consider me as average paki liar here. It is tendency of almost 99% of paki businessmen to evade income taxes, Don't pretend that majority of paki businessmen are honest and pay all their taxes to government.

i hate pakistani government , they just want money , they`re not sincere with their duties... may ALLAH watch over us

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Days ? Say 1 day. I was watching Kal Tak last night where the anchor basically started off with everything we are saying here. Skip to the last minute of the show, there is a shouting match between two politicians which has nothing to do with the tragedy and the host is trying to get them to shut up but they wouldn't and he just says goodbye with a disgusted look while they were still yelling.

Pakistan doesn't seem to have any culture of public demonstrations unless it is organized by the right-wing religious parties.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

As they say, Pakistanis are not a nation they are a disorganized mob.
It is amazing how there is one tragedy after another ranging from natural to man-made not even counting wilful murdering that goes on in Karachi every few days.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Exactly, we are a Taamash Been Qouum, when people were jumping off the building, I dont know how many of people watching from outside even tried to arrange couple of wodden ladders and put them together to help the other people that were jumping off the building.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

i was watching one of the talk shows and the guy there mentioned that while the city of Karachi was witnessing one of the worst industrial disasters yet the target killing was being carried out unabated...that day [yesterday] a total of 13 people were murdered...as if 289 janaaze were not enuf! indeed, a very sad state of affairs!
