All the firefighting force of the metropolis has been called in to fight out the blaze, which engulfed the factory located in Karachi West.
Snorkels were being used to bring the people down from the roof of the factory, which has now become a ball of fire. Only, the fire at the top-floor has brought under control.
Dozens of the worker trapped in the factory jumped down to save their lives.
At least 40 fire tenders were busy dousing flames at the factory.
According to sources, around 2000 people are employed at the 2000 square-yard garment factory.
A fire in a factory in Lahore also took away at least 25 lives whereas around 40 became victim of rains in the last 24 hours in Punjab and Sindh.
Please raise your hands to Allah Almighty for His help for we, the mere mortals, are simply not capable of withstanding loss of lives and material. May Allah Almighty forgive the cursed nation of ours and give us vision and strenght to walk the real path of Islam. And may He be merciful — as He has always been beyond any measure and doubt — to the departed souls and give courage to the grieving families and to us. Oh the truest, the greatest and the only Lord of ours, we have lost it all and there is no hope but You. We beseech You for Your mercy which is the only way out for us. Please help us, oh the most Merciful. Amen.
OMG...i watched on News this morning about the Lahore fire that killed 26...and now this in Karachii? :( soooo sad and so many precious lives lost...inna lillaahi wa inna ilaihi raaje'oon. may their souls rest in janna and their families find strength to bear the pain...aameen
Very sorry about this loss of precious human lives. May the departed rest in peace. And may all the people still trapped be rescued without further harm.
Very tragic. Last week there was a horrible factory accident in Sivakasi, Tamilnadu in which many people died. Greedy factory owners often flout fire safety rules & regulations in order to fatten their profit margins. Authorities need to implement safety norms stringently, and make an example out of those who were responsible by imposing heavy punitive fines. The money should be given to workers' children.
Inna Lillah e wa Inna Elaihi rajioon, there was another one in Lahore as well last night killing more than 20 people. In the beginning i thought its the same incident but alas two of them in the same day.
No safety measures are in practice in these factories. The owners want to maximise their own wealth at the expense of the poor workers. Owners should be held accountable and brought to court.
