Garment factory fire kills over 300

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

What is this thing about possible arson by bhatta mafia that the media is starting to talk about.

Anyway, as others have so correctly said before, until there is no voice for the little man, he will stay at the receiving end whether it is fires, floods, earthquakes or different types of wars/conflicts.

This is how things works in countries with social apartheid.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

no safety standards in pakistan

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

stronger always get away with everything, at the end of the day its always the common man who has to pay the price. just Imagine most of these workers were the sole breadwinners for their families, these people didnt just take away 310 lives, they destroyed 310 families.

within few days we all will forget this tragedy, just like we have forgotten Bhoja air incident and many others, which only happened due to sheer negligance of few corrupt individuals.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Irfan Moton, chairman of the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate, told AFP he believed there were 600 to 700 people in the factory when the fire broke out.

“We believe many people have come out, but still there are fears the final toll
could be higher,” he said.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

God forbid. I am afraid when all is said and done the number will be close to 500.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Allah khair kere... death toll is rapidly increasing, fire broke out in the basement and there are fears there might be still people down there.

someone said, yeh sheher loogon ka nahi, janazun ka sheher hai... daily target killings and now this.....or kitni laashein uthayeinge??

Inna lillahe wa inna ilae her rajeoon :( that's really sad day.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

I believe it was terrorist act by extortionists.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Could be... the owner might have created a hitch or refused paying them. A business with over 2500 employees must be earning couple of million $$$ a year....

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Sad news. :(

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

And how do you know it was MQM or ANP? You are a racist bigot for ridiculing all Urdu speaking and Pashtun people.
Did you learn this kind of language from Zulfiqar Mirza?

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

It's disgusting when people try to be an expert in something but have no clue what they are talking about. Not a single export oriented organization in Pakistan is a tax evader simply because of the fact that all the export proceeds when they arrive through banking channels are deducted for tax at source. This deduction at source is final discharge of tax liability in Pakistan as per the prevailing laws today. It's impossible for an exporter to evade taxes due to these logistical reasons. No matter how you abuse the export businessmen with such a beautiful vocabulary.. the fact remains that all export organizations in Pakistan pay their due share of taxes.. totally without evasion.. in line with the prevailing laws of the day..

Now coming back to the topic under discussion.. not a single building in Pakistan whether it is commercial, industrial, residential, official is equipped enough to tackle fire of this magnitude.. why single out only this exporter of garments. Security concerns make matters worse as exit points are minimized to stop pilferage etc. A typical factory of this size in pakistan works with at least 30/40 security personnel.. probably more than anywhere else in the world, Not counting the security guards needed for the personal security of the owners to bring them to their factories. Increase in exit points mean increase in security staff.. which is not the solution for already burdened factories. What is needed is a tough stance on bhatta khors and criminals that the factories can work without becoming jails for the staff and owners..

Karachi businessmen testify that presently MQM has left bhatta khori from factories.. most of these bhatta khors are PPP-government backed criminals. Without stopping these criminals you can not improve the safety standards of business premises.. be it commercial plazas with shops or garment factories like these..

P.S. A typical garment factory has much better safety standards because of the compliances needed by the buyers who regularly audit these factories for standards.. this factory which is owned by a respected memon businessman must have been audited and found compliant by their customers..

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

I read MQM did it all

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

source please?

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

Check all the news channels

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

News channels are talking about extortionists possibly behind this. BTW, I tend to agree with it at this moment.
But I did not see anyone mention anyone for extortion.

If you think bhatta automatically means MQM then you need to gather more information about this subject before saying anything here.

So please do tell us about your source of information blaming MQM.

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

^ The TV channels are saying that extortionists have burned the factory?

Re: Garment factory fire kills over 300

TV channels may be saying it as well but I actually read it in Jang that extortionists MIGHT be behind it. It is not confirmed yet.

This needs to be thoroughly investigated before we know the truth.
But like I said, my feeling at this moment is that this story of extortionists might as well be true. I am thinking why would an accident happen on the salary day? Why would it happen the same day when there were maximum number of people there and when all exits would be closed, due to it being a salary day?
