Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS -- Spoilers!!

been rereading.

What about Tyrion's parentage?

Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS -- Spoilers!!

Some people have the theory that Tyrion is secretly a Targ. Apparently Aerys had a thing for Joanna (Tywin's wife) and people think he might have raped her at some point. That seems a bit far fetched to me and I think it cheapens the events between Tyrion and Tywin.

Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS -- Spoilers!!

^ Yeah, i agree. As much as I like the theories about Jon's parentage, I like Tywin and Tyrion as is.

Aerys did show lust toward Joanna. And Tyrion's obsessed with dragons. His hair is described to be white-blonde (kind of like the Targs). His eyes are mismatched too. And Tywin did break off from Aerys. Could be, but I hope not.

Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS -- Spoilers!!

After rexamining all the evidence, I now agree with you.

It seems that:

Rhaegar and Elia had an unhappy marriage - proof is that he named Lyanna as queen of beauty at the Tourney instead of his own wife.
Rhaegar and Lyanna ran off together as a result. Lyanna's father was incensed at this as he had promised her to Robert.
Robert's Rebellion took place as a result of the Aerys's reaction to these accusations.
At the end of the rebellion, (so many months later, maybe even 9 months later...) Ned finds Lyanna dying in a bed of blood (such as what would be there after a difficult childbirth) defended by the Kingsguard.
Lyanna makes Ned a promise.... protecting the identity of her baby would be a good promise, as she would know that being the last Targaryen in Westeros, his existence would be a challenge to Robert. She would probably already have heard of the slaughter of Elia's babies and fear the same for her own.

It is extremely unlikely that Ned would father a bar steward, as Robert teased Ned for staying loyal to his wife throughout their rebellion while Robert frequented whores.

Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS -- Spoilers!!

^ Yup. Exactly.

Now, for those of you who have read the entire series: Do you think Aegon is the real Aegon?

Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS – Spoilers!!

This song reminds me of Cersei and Jamie’s relationship.

Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS -- Spoilers!!

More important than the letter, will be Howland Reed entering the story. He was the only survivor, along with Ned, from the Tower of Joy, and I think will be the one to finally clear up Jon Snow's parentage. And I think Dany and Aegon will deny this, but Jon won't care. I definitely think he will die leading Westeros against the Others. At the very least, he'll be one of the leaders.

I have to question your morality now hareem...

I don't think it matters, and I think Martin will leave it ambiguous. There have been European monarchs who claimed to be royalty, and they had an army behind them so it was accepted. I think Dany and Aegon will clash and her dragons will bring his story to an end.

I kind of want to see Dany portrayed as a conqueror.Throughout the series she has held onto the belief that the throne is hers by right. It's not. The Targs took it, they were owed nothing. I want to see her attempt to conquer Westeros, fail and die, and have someone unexpected sitting on the iron throne at the end.

Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS -- Spoilers!!

^ I want to see her as the conqueror too, especially as she's the one with the most interesting gang of misfit followers. Her conquering force is really interesting, and I assume a dwarf is about to join the team.. I would like to see her win though. Maybe she and Jon will marry and restore the Targs, tho that's unlikely.

Re: Game of Thrones BOOKS -- Spoilers!!

For sure, her gang of misfits includes not only Tyrion, but will probably also include Drogo's former khalasar (currently Jhaqo's), which she meets at the end of book 5.

I initially thought she would marry Jon, but I think Jon's arc is going to be solely about duty. He'll be the primary leader against the Others and I think he'll die. (sadly)
