What is the story behind this?

Is there a particular anecdote about this idiom or is it because of fact that it was not easy to sell horses and donkeys in the old days and something that makes you tired?

I think Gadhe and GhoRhe were the means of transportation of trading goods in old days and selling them was considered like closing of business bole to long vacation. Thats why Gadhe GhORha bech kar sona means Kal chutti hai... lambi taan ke so jao
