It was in fact his people who turned against him, it wasn't NATO boots on the ground but the rebels who grew tired of his oppression. Read about the "Five-Point Address" he gave in 1973 and what followed, for the 38 years Libyans have been held down by his thumb through his brutal laws. He had been living on borrowed time for far to long.
The BBC website has posted a video of Gaddaffi begging for his life while his people are dragging him on the ground. I trust that.
What you say about the West having their own agenda may or may not be correct. Time will tell. However, you should not write off the Libyan people. The uprising is happening all over the Middle East. People are sick and tired of being controlled. We are seeing the affects of it now.

The difference is that those governments did not use the kind of brutal force Gaddafi used against his people over the past few months.

Let us assume that everything listed here true, but does that means Gaddafi created that wealth? No. He stole those resources from Libyan people & he and his cronies got rich from it.
Its same with rest of the Arab dictators. They haven't created oil wealth. If anything they are stealing that wealth for their people. Saudia is good example. King and his family are enjoy everything while throwing crumbs at his people, and exporting Whabi terror to rest of the world.

How can you compare Libya with Bosnia and Kosovo? In Libya, it's a combination of uprising and struggle for power. No external power has a right to intervene in internal struggles. In Kosovo/Bosnia, there was nothing like that. It was pure genocide on the basis of religion/ethnicity.
