i don't know, i just wish that those men make sure that their women have suitable summer clothing [they don't have to be revealing you know but woollen jumpers and heavy cardis? No]. In that sense, abayas aren't actually that bad campare to those denim and woollen clothing.

I don't see what the big deal is if they are below or at knee level and the girl is wearing full but summery/light clothes with a hijab, I wouldn't think twice about it
But on the other hand if she was wearing a full abaya with gloves and all and the guy was wearing short shorts.........I might think something

Islamically, men are allowed to wear shorts as long as it covers their knees. It just looks really odd if the guy is wearing shorts and girl is wearing nikaab/hijab. Muslims who are aware of the rulings on dress codes might not see anything wrong with it, but it might just look weird and a tad hypocritical to outsiders.
Now I'm thinking about this one. I wear a hijab and the guy I'm getting married to wears shorts (knee-length ones) VERY rarely. He just owns a pair that he's never worn around me anyway . I should talk to him about that and make him throw them away.
Exercise caution so that he doesn't decide to throw you away instead.

Another Question mainly from girls.
Lets assume for a min that its "unfair" that you are in hijab and husband is in shorts, should this make you take off Niqab? are you doing hijab BECAUSE your husband is in full cloths and not because its what Allah has ordered?
It will definitely won't be encouraging for many women.

Well I agree to some extent but here is how I see it.
IF I do something for Allah, I do it for Allah, irrespective of what my wife, my parents and my siblings are doing although IF they following the same course will sure make it it easy but this should not be a reason to move away from something you are suppose to do for Allah in first place.

I dont think we are discussing the choice of fabric or cloths here as long as it fulfill the purpose. We were discussing about getting discouraged or skipping it all together **because **husband or someone in your family dose not follow it.

Well, regardless it happens. Women do take off hijab/niqab when they feel discouraged. I'm not saying it's right, but it happens.

It's not about comparison with the husband. It's more about the reasoning a set of beliefs uses. And I do understand and accept that women at more at risk of being mens' "prey"...so hijab for women makes sense. But the lack of requirement for men to cover their chest...I don't know about that. Anyway..

I have seen that many many times. I've also seen it in very religious couple where both the husband and wife are "very" practicing muslims. The thing is that a man is allowed to wear and pray in shorts that fall below the knees so he OK...but just out of respect that becharey ki biwi abaya mey mer rahi ho gi, he should be a but more considerate and wear full pants at least. Maybe the wife doesn't care but just out of care maybe?

but I know if I’m all fully covered up, my husband would never hang around in his speedos just so we look like we belong to each other and are on the same page
