I was laughing wen isaw the thread title:D certainly those were the days wen women use to apply Tibet snow, but now they spend fortunes on makeup, and face creams n stuff…one night cream n one day cream, sun block, fairness creams(as the whole nation wants to be fair):bummer:natural makeup is replaced with the natural beauti n inner beauti is no where to be seen:sigh:

Re: From Tibet Snow to Beauty Parlors

I was confused about the thread title. First though to give name beauty kits.. but that didn’t represent the theme… then Ammis words came into my mind about how they used to prepared bride in their time

Yes that was the golden era of simplicity and people have to time to interact with each other rather than wasting that in preparation and regular rounds to beauty parlors

Re: From Tibet Snow to Beauty Parlors

Re: From Tibet Snow to Beauty Parlors

My mom and khalas got married in 70s and 80s and a couple of them in 60s even. They all used make-up. Makeup wasn’t done in parlours though as there would always be some member of the family considered good with that stuff but option of hiring some professional was always there. I am not sure about just applying oil in hair on a wedding day. There isn’t any drastic change in my opinion. The reason parlors are so popular now is probably convenience.

At one time, no one really imagined getting grey hair before late fourties, now teen agers have a lot of them. So if you ask why would a 15 years old dye his/her hair now and why no one cared to dye their hair even in their 30s …obviously because they didn’t have any grey hair!!! Talking about sola singhar that was common in older generations, do you know that a part of that was ubtun. And you know besides being an anti-septic and cleanser, what it does? It removes hair from the root if used on pre-teen girls. Now we have waxing or threading for the same purpose but that is used by grown-ups only. So as for your comment “duniya main natural beauty khatam hogai” that is probably true. The only switch that I can see is from herbal and natural products to chemical products.

P.s. Personal opinion
