Heard that bridal make-up costs more than Rs 50,000 in certain parlors. New beauty kits are introduced on regular basis.
My Ammi told that in their times (70s and 80s), brides make-up was limited to applying oil on hair… kass ke choti banana and ziada ho
gaya to Tibet Snow laga li?
What do you think is the reason for this change? Do people of or era become more conscious or duniya main natural beauty khatam hogai?
so you mean its media and cosmetic companies that are responsible for all this?
That's probably one part of it. The other aspect that also plays a role here is the increased "lavishness" (is that even a word?) of weddings. That has to do with the desire to outdo your neighbour, relative, friend, etc. in how much "dhoom dhaam" you have in your shaadi. Again, a very disturbing trend.
thats true. people spent a lot of money unnecessarily on wedding functions that can be used for other important matters. Rs 50,000 is a handsome amount sufficient for feeding a normal size family for weeks and that is just wasted on make-up
not cosmetics companies but media, barhti hoi demand ko dekh kar hi nit naye companies khulti hain..
mujhay aj bhi yaad hai chotay hotay Ammi ki Tibet snow, ab faraq sirf itna hai ke us ki jaga brand change hogaya hai...
International brands got place in local markets due to beauty contests sponsored by these cosmetic companies. Have you ever considered that why they make girls from India 'Miss Universe' and 'Miss World'? They want to capture huge Indian market.
BTW why there is a facial trend in young men? Is it limited to mummy daddy group or others also follow this trend. The way normal saloon keeps different beauty products at display say that ‘ab pani sir se ooper chala gaya hai’
My mom got married in the 80s and she called the beautician to her house for makeup and hair styling. Of course the charges were not the same as today but the beautician did a great job as well. Its a woman's right to look and feel great on her wedding. I don't think you can or should compromise on quality makeup. It ruins the entire look.

Right... but rural areas were not aware of beautician till 90s and brides sisters used to prepare her on wedding day. It was simple and cost saving, but now even small parlors charge around Rs 10,000 for bridal make-up
