Well.. there are also societies that are polyandrous - so by your logic you only think BomShellBabe's creative situation is absurd because you were raised in a society that views it so. There is nothing inherently good or bad about polygamy or polyandry -it's all culturally relative.
If everything is cultural and relative - then no universal principles hold.

That falls through - murder isn't universally accepted in all cultures. Lying, cheating, stealing, respect, love...these things are universal principles and don't depend upon cultural perspective cos they're basics. I've already stated in another thread that polyandry in some societies works out perfectly well - cool, good for them. My point has been - polygamous relationships shouldn't be bashed as they have been in all these threads. But all my arguments have also ended up being in the sphere of religion, which doesn't allow for women to be married to multiple times - i've always maintained that.

Well there are some corrections to what you have written also ... namely the "any number of slave girls" part and the number of wives going in to the hundreds of previous prophets part ...
It is a recent phenomenon that many women are actually toying with the idea of multiple relationships "in their mind" these days ... this is a result of consumerism in my view ...
How is he wrong on slave girls, since islam allows as many as your right hand (one with the cash I guess ) can afford.

Polygamy is painful if not done according to Islamic conditions. It is not recommended though but you can still argue like a child :)

I am seriously shocked at the interpretation from some people here. Slave girls!!! Islam abolished slavery and made all humans equal. The interpretation of language is supported by Arab culture which has a habit of interpreting our faith to suit their needs!
its like saying im going to go and buy a girl and keep her as a sex slave!!!! and i can do what i want with her because i have "ownership" of her. In Islam nobody "owns" anyone! We all have a duty in our relationships and must abide by Allah's rules and must conduct our selves Islamically . This is a warped interpretation of the faith that the Sheikhs and Kings like to promote to fulfil their perverted needs and many chose to follow!

Yep, ayahs are constantly taken out of context. Sure you can get a slave girl and many of the sahabah did probably (I recall Ali (R) having one), but at the same time, the rewards of freeing slaves, and then marrying them into believing women → this was all a slow methodical way of abolishing slavery, mixing races, mixing tribes, and getting people to get rid of their prejudices. Ideally, once all the slaves are freed, which should have happened centuries ago on the Arab subcontinent, if they actually did what the Prophet (SAW) had asked them to do…then that clause of marriage to slaves no longer applies.
The ayahs were revealed in different time periods in different circumstances, and if you dont get the history, it’s easy to misinterpret something for your own good.
Meanwhile, there are a gazillion ayahs on how to be good people, I dont see desis following those. We’re all concerned about the slave girls.

the concept of using a slaving girl without nikha is a contradiction of faith and you are right that people have forgotten the concept of how slaves should be treated. Islam allowed men to take the women who they "possessed " and marry them if certain conditions were met, making them Halal.
I know there are so many ayahs on how to be good people but this world is full of sinful people who want to justify their crude actions and you see it happening all the time. That statement made me furious as many Islamic countries have been at war and where does that mentally leave many helpless women, young girls and children. It exposes them to abuse and makes them vulnerable allowing men to abuse them and then justifying it through Islam.
Such interpretations should not even be entertained as it leaves many women exposed, many of us here are lucky to be living in a safe environment however not every one is as fortunate

If a key can open 4 locks, then it wud be considered a master key.
If a lock is opened by 4 different keys, u must admit it will considered a pretty crapy lock.
