foundation question

i know there was a thread on this recently but i cant seem to find it

but their question was the same one i have. I feel like a half hour after i use my foundation it just turns darker. when i get home and remove the makeup i feel like i see radiant and cleaner skin again. I dunno what im doing wrong, any ideas? i have combination skin.

Re: foundation question

i have the same problem. :(

U're using the wrong shade.. try a light-reflection foundation. Foundation has to be an exact match unless u're a professional and know how to use it for contouring.

Re: foundation question

any good recommendations? (brands?) are you sure thats the only problem:(

I'm pretty sure.. find a foundation based on u're undertones. Some girls have yellow undertones and pick-up pink foundations.. a perfect foundation shud give u nice coverage and blend perfectly.

I like Bobbi Brown foundations.. as well as lancome's

Re: foundation question

hmm i've read in a couple places and have heard it on some tv show as well, that non-gore should wear one shade lighter than their skin as it gets darker after a while. actually i think they were doing a makeover and talkin about how they used one shade lighter on the model because foundation gets darker after a little while on their skin

Re: foundation question

What brand foundation have you been using shona? Maybe it's just the wrong brand foundation. Not all brands out there have great color matchings for our skin tones.

No, foundation isn't supposed to change color.. use the EXACT color and follow-up with either a pressed or loose powder..

Re: foundation question

i once tried a lighter foundation from nivea and trust me, whoever says u should go lighter or even darker than ur skin tone is so damn wrong. agree with gina, go with exact or close to ur skin tone ALWAYS!

Re: foundation question

try using primer too.

and plz plz plz dont use lighter foundation :bummer: im sick and grossed out with girls using lighter foundations. i dunno who is puttign this in desi ladie’s head that u shud always use lighter foundation :smack: it looks gross trust me! :grumpy: im sick of listening form my friends that u shud use lighter foundation cuz foundation is supposed to make u look fair :smack: NO foundation is nt supposed to make u look FAIR its supposed to give u a nice clearer surface to use ur make up :smack:

i dunno y we have such inferiority compelx

sorry for the rant but …:bummer:

Re: foundation question

arrite i will try all these things. new foundation and primer. how important is a primer?

Re: foundation question

^it's not if you have smooth skin---you can just use moisturizer and let it dry for a couple min. primer is overrated

A primer moistruizes and provides a matte finish.. it also provides a smoother surface for the perfect foundation application. A moisturizer is a great thing..but for perfect foundation a primer is important :)

Re: foundation question

^ true that!

a moisturizer CANNOT replace a primer.. Mac's primer is the best, i use the spf one for day wear and the normal one for nights...

after primer, concealer (if u use) and then pressed powder foundation by MAC called Studio Fix.

:)

Re: foundation question

and primer wont let ur skin absorb the foundation that much. skin absorbs most of the foundation thats y it fades or looks dull.

Primers these days come with a base cream that reflects light and minimizes pores.. gives a very pretty/dewy finish.

Re: foundation question

^ yup the one by mac… has very subtle hints f shimmer in it, it gives the face a very healthy glow..

.. this is the one..

Re: foundation question

if it's oily along the T-zone and dry on the rest, should one then use 2 types of foundations?

Re: foundation question

^ nope u should use combination skin range...
from skin care to make up..
i can tell you among MAC, estee lauder, givenchy, body shop and neutrogena.. among all of them the best for my combo skin was primer+concealer+studio fix by mac
