Foundation 101

Re: Foundation 101

^i have laura mercier silk creme foundation. i would say it's comparable to mac studio fix in terms of finish but the shade was a really good match (NC30 to Beige Ivory).

i don't use it anymore. i used it up to my wedding when i bought mac full coverage, which is also a good colour match. sheerly applied with a flat foundation brush it's perfect for everyday wear too and i prefer its look and finish with powder on top. someone i met recently for the first time was surprised to later learn that i was wearing any foundation or powder :)

Re: Foundation 101

--> AA1985: Karaja is an Italian brand. I used their lipsticks, lip pencils and eye shadows a lot in the late 90's. I never tried other products by them though. The quality was okay, I think (don't remember much).

Be careful when you're buying Karaja, as fake ones are available too. Naheed's is reputable so they probably have the genuine stuff.

Re: Foundation 101

Hey Gina, I need your expert help :).
I have very light blemishes and a slightly uneven skin tone. I need a good foundation for weddings/formal parties, etc. that would look good in photographs and would give me that glowing skin look.
But obviously, I'll be doing heavy eye makeup on such occasions. So how does one achieve that glowy look while applying heavy makeup? Which foundation (under a $40 range) will give me coverage for my blemishes and skin tone and also make my skin glow?

Re: Foundation 101

Try Cover Effects Cream Foundation and apply it with a flat foundation brush.

yes its sheer, i use a tinnnnny drop to cover the whole face...you can even mix a dust of brillance powder or something similar..
stila's tinted moisturizer in spf 30 is also great, with very sheer coverage.

Re: Foundation 101

thnxxx for this info!!! Ive been looking at Sisley forever...but since its quite pricey--havent yet purchased it. Thanks for recommending products that are actually useful. I just wish I had read this a month ago--before going out and buying a Chanel foundation.

They seem to have very few foundation colors available in the line though....

No problem BR! :)
and yeah sisley does not have too many shades..i think its like 7 (??)

I’ve been wanting to buy this as it has many shades, anyone that’s tried it? It promises it’s a lightweight formula..

Sephora: MAKE UP FOR EVER Face & Body Liquid Makeup: Liquid Foundation

I swear by makeup forevers’ concealers and hence keen on buying this..

Bringing this thread back to life, since we're seeing lots of new threads on foundations. :)

Please go through this thread..and ask whatever you wish to ask. I'm sure all the girls will try and help out.

Re: Foundation 101

Hey Guppans!

I want to invest in a good foundation as I have a bunch of formal events coming up that I will be attending.

On a day to day basis I have been wearing Loreal True Match liquid foundation... which is ok but I am not in luv. Especially since I feel like the color isnt a "true match" ... but is the closest thing I can find in that brand. Sometimes I wear Bare Minerals which I luv since the coverage is pretty light so its good for everyday ...especially in the summer time I feel.

I have tried MAC in the past and I just dont like how it changes color as the day goes on.... plus the coverage is just too heavy for me.

My skin is extremely dry... so Lancome Teint Idole Ultra wasn't a good fit for me either....

So do you guys have any recommendations for a good foundation for dry skin???

Re: Foundation 101

^ Bobbi Brown's skin foundation is great, I have very dry skin, and it covers great, and I feel my skin stays moisturized throughout the day (of course I wear a separate heavy moisturizer before). The foundation stick by BB is amazing too, I usually apply it with a little bit of MAC's fix + and that gives a very natural glowy look. I personally love BB foundations, even better than Chanel, IMO. They work for my dry skin a whole lot better than any other brands I have tried.

Re: Foundation 101

Has anyone tried Chanel's Vital Lumiere?? What's the verdict on this??

Re: Foundation 101

whats the best product for combinatiion skin? liquid form or powder?

I had heard that its good for dery skin so I got a sample just the other day.

It goes on smooth and is really soft to the touch, doesnt feel heavy at all. The only thing is that I felt it was a bit too glowy for me and also, the coverage is pretty light...I guess it's good for day wear.

hey guys... i have extremely oily skin and large pores! please reccomend a good liquid foundation.. im fair.. i have tried mac nc15 studio sculpt but didnt quite like the gel type formula.... me getting married in june IA.. so wana try a foundation now and buy a new one for june, thankss.

I don't have very dry skin, but I love Bobbi Brown foundations.. I use the fluid for everyday and the stick for occassions.

Re: Foundation 101

gina i liv in hot weaather of khi..i hav got oily skin leading to pores...n some acne a little bit appearing on face as wel...suggest me a good brand of foundation hav 2 get one which givess sheer to face ....

If you have acne/scars use a pigmented concealer and then a liquid foundation. For heavier coverage Bobbi Brown foundation sticks are wonderful.
