Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
If u have sky then there is a channel called wedding tv asia channel 267
theres one programme called the asian wedding designers they show designers in Uk and the shops that they have and where they are based, its actually really good u get to see there stock aswell... and some shops stock pakistani designers like maria b. and hsy...!
good luck
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
Kesser jewelers have the typical mass produced all gold designs, i guess if you want the stuff the ppl in bradford would go wah ji waj kinna sona sona ay. then go for them. but the designs are a bit bleh.
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
I know that pakistan bridal sets etc, are really gorgeous overthere,
but its just the trust issue that bugs us.
You dont want to take the risk of getting some really beautiful designs, and then find out it was not even worth the money you put in it !
its kind of a weak situation.
well both my freind and I am not living in UK, so i have no idea what bradford people have going on there :)
but if the Kessar Jewellers can replicate precisely one of the designs she wants that her cousins has, then it will also make her day
I have seen wedding tv, i am not super impressed by that channel btw.
I did seen once Maria's intw etc, but i feel they show the same stuff over and over again ?
maybe I have mistaken with that observation, but thats what i felt.
Is it really that expensive to get gold bridal sets from UK?
is that why all these artificial labels are so popular like Kyles etc ?
eventho i feel theyre a RIPP off aswell :)
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
I don't think it's really expensive, If you go knowing the cost of gold per gram and what typical making costs should be, you can see how much they are charging for making and bargain with them. Sometimes you can get them to take most of the making cost off (so you're only paying for the gold) but that's mainly if it's ONLY gold and machined. The main cost factor is the VAT but if you're coming from abroad you can get a VAT exemption certificate etc and claim that back at customs :)
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
For replicas of gold sets definatley try Jazzy Bindi (off green st) google it for the address. I had a teeka and jhoomar made to go with my gold set as I thought getting one made in gold would be a waste of money. They did a fantastic job - it matched as closely as possible, and the workmanship was amazing. It really looked like gold.
For fabric in southal try Rainbow textiles, explain you want it for wedding wear, as they have stock upstairs and the floor is closed off to the public, but they'll take you up if you ask them. Otherwise try Jaan or Banwait brothers - also in southall.
For actual gold jewlllery try Damas or Sultan jewellers in southall. RPS as mentioned is also v. good.

Wedding lehnga in London?
Salam/hi all,
Where can I find a wedding lehnga in London? I've heard on South hall and Green streets we can find many shops?
Thx
southall and green street are probably the best places to look - i heard they bargain right down to half price in green st so be aware of that too!
there are also a few indian 'designer' options on Ealing Road in Wembley, RCKC, Revaaz etc but these can be very expensive.
Re: Wedding lehnga in London?
My friend got her wedding lengha from Mongos in southall it was absolutely stunning was rust orange..
Re: Wedding lehnga in London?
i would go to southall or green street like background recommended!

asian bridal dress shops - recommendations
Hi everybody!
i am getting married next year and i was just wondering which shops people on here recommend for dresses that are a bit of a modern cut and style than the traditional very big loose dress! preferably in the midlands UK but i am happy to travel within the UK...have you had experience with any of the following:
khoobsurat
chiffons
silon
mair
etc etc!
any help would be appreciated!
thank you!
Re: asian bridal dress shops - recommendations
i dont know about any other shops as my sis fell in luv with her dress
in the very first shop!!!! :)
Its a shop called Poshaak in Blackburn, Lancashire. Although its not that big a shop
he has gawjus dresses ( readymades, lenghay and sherwanis ).
We bought my sis lengha jus over a grand, after haggling!!
Wish u luck and hope u find what ur luking 4!! :)
Re: asian bridal dress shops - recommendations
i would recommend neelum's on wilmslow road in manchester. she has some amazing dresses and works in your budget if you tell her how much youre willing to spend.
Re: asian bridal dress shops - recommendations
Thank you both so much for your responses!
xjatti2khanx I think your sister got very lucky to find the dress in one shop that is brilliant! do you have any pictures of the style? as you can imagine i dont want to travel that far to find their styles are not what i am after...i will search for them on the net see if they have a web site.
Smile1 i will look into neelums too on the net! i need something within 3 months so i am trying to find a dress that i dont need much changing to and i dont really want to design it from scratch! am i asking for too much lol!
Re: asian bridal dress shops - recommendations
poshaak dont have a website, but im gonna go with my sis as her lengha will be ready to be picked up by next week end, i will try and take some pics and then post on here
also try bradford, cant remember names but im sure they have a few bridal shops. :)
Re: asian bridal dress shops - recommendations
that would be great if you coudl post pictures when you get it as the holidays are coming up now and i will have time off work to possibly go to places like poshaak that are a bit further away from the midlands!
yes i was thinking about bradford and a few people have reccmmended soho road birmingham and shops in leciester too! how long has it taken for her to get her dress? is it quicker to get a dress the designer has already designed rather that design one from scratch?
