Southall is definately your best bet for real gold. Green street is more for the artificial costume jewellery like Kyles (naff in my opinion...and a rip off!).
I cannit afford real gold so cannit reccommend any specific shops in Southall, but past giftos cash and carry, going towards the Macdonalds with Maccy D's on your left, there are some gold jewellers there which seem pretty decent.
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
You can try a few shops around the wembley area! i bought my bangles from one of the shops but personally i think the jewllers in southall (ramprakash i think) they have 2 branches, they do really nice jewllery, i bought a ruby set and a sapphire pendant with earings from them... can remember the name exactly tbh but i think its ramprakash, all i remember is that they have 2 branches one smaller and one alot bigger both on southall bdwy! wembley u can try raju or something, its ryt opposite the mosque, my mums been going to them since i was a baby so theyre pretty reliable and the uncles are nice when it comes to giving a good price lol
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
Gul mohors for clothes based just off of ilford lane
My outfits r coming next week :D
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
Gold shops are a rip off, if possible get it made from pakistan
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
There used to be this artificial jewerelly shop in south called Ritz or something. they used to have high quality artifical stuff. otherwise ramprakash sunderdas sons have amazing designs. not like the usual jewellers have(the cheap looking all gold designs)
Material wise London isn't exactly known for nice loose material. although i did see a few shops on ilford lane that had silk. On Green st you mentioned Bareeze, I wasn't blown away by their stuff if you like high priced stuff because it has a label then thats ok.
If you can travel out further, Bombay stores in Bradford tends to stock all the pure silks, chiffons, raw silk, katan etc. I haven't seen another shop like it.

Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
Thank you so much guys.
I will note down the places you named.
Please do keep them coming, as we will be going to there for approx 8 days, so we have enough time to look around.
So do keep the gold stores and textile stores names and places coming.
Its much appreciated !
Thanks.
Again, does anyone else know where you could perhaps get a gold bridal set (slightly heavy) replicated ?
xx

i dont know, our elder people have this theory that pakistani gold jewellers unless its a family one, tend to the some scams when they sell the gold, they will mix it up with other metals and decrease the carats of the gold :S
other than that for now its more convenient for her to get her bridal set from uk :)
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
Ophy :
Ritz is that in london ? could you perhaps elaborate on their location please ?
and bareeze in london is more or less same priced as in pakistan i felt that.
But bareeze in generel is a pricey place.
I used to like it alot in the beginning, but they tend to only make the same design, but theyre by every season just adding some glued on "stones" etc
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
Designs are always limited here but it's always better to buy Gold from outside Pakistan as it will actually be worth something and is hallmarked.
R_C one of my relatives had a stunning set on her wedding (she's american). I was so shocked to hear that her mum bought it from Southall. I will try and find out which shop and let you know. pakifairy has seen it loved it too, lol.
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
it was underneath Maria B, when she briefly had a shop upstairs, on the same row as jaan. but a bit towards maccys. haven't been there in yonks now. but they had very good quality jewellery. don't know why they closed. but i was upset.
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
oh the other day i was in Daminis on green street and they had very good quality fake kundan/polki sets. very much liek the ones on the jewellery thread. or if you really wanna spend the money go to ealing road that shop called Riwaj or soemthing. she has amazing stuff
I don’t know about the London area but i found Shopping in Birmingham very good for my wedding shopping, especially ready made outfits…soho rd, ladypool rd and allum rock road.
I have ordered two sets by the jewellers Kesser Jewellers on white abbey road in bradford. We have been buying our gold from their for years!
I chose to find the designs on the internet and i am getting them made in real gold, one set will be with an antique gold finish to go with my walima outfit.
Im not sure about the costs involved but this set
is going to be made in 25 tola but don’t know about my second set ![]()
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk

Kesser Jewellers on white abbey road in bradford
I can vouch for this jewellers. All of the women in my family buy from this shop on a regular basis.

i can't say if all jewellers in pakistan do this, but there are definitely dishonest ones, as opposed to, for example, in dubai.
my mom bought a pair of earrings in pakistan that she was told were 22K gold and she paid the price for 22K gold too. a few years later, she tried to exchange them in dubai for something else, and they checked them, and it turned out they were only 18K! so i'd be careful.
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
Stoppit :
Thanks, do ask, will much appreciated it ! would love too see the set aswell :)
Ophy : I have no idea why MariaB closed down there ! i was really disapointed aswell!
but thanks, will go again and check it out :)
Nazmeen :
Wow, your sets realllly beautiful, all the best with it, so they do a good job at replicating sets ? i will definately check that place out ! thanks a bunch dear !
Mizz khan and milly :
thank you very much
so alot of you are putting your vote for Kesser Jewellers, will have to check that place out.
sgc :
Exactly, same thing has happened with a couple of our relatives, even my mom,
when they got it checked here it was much lesser in 22/24K then they were told.
Eventho, some jewellers in pakistan have some really nice designs, but its just the trust factor that lacks, and you hesitate in taking the big step, as it involves alot of money, and you dont want to take that risk and end up with something thats not even half the money worth of what you put in for it !
its the one im talking abour: RPS(=Ramprakash sunderdas & sons)
YESSSS they are the ones! they have amazing designs! im drooling over the counters every time i go there! lol and i know Ritz too... i bought a green set from them once but im sure they've closed down, i dont remember seeing them any time recently but then again it could be because i wasnt looking... they did have amazing looking artificial jewlerry there though! RC deffo check out ramprakash sunderdas =D
Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
i would NEVER buy gold from this country!
the designs r way old fashioned, n u can always get something better in pak for the same amount....id say give ur money to some1 trusted in pak n tell them to buy it for u if possible....
