We just decided to start shopping for a lengha and on the very 1st day she went in looked at two lenghay and fell in love with the third one, tried it and it felt just right!!
we wer there for 2 hours nearly!
It was really heavy though and the shop owner said he will get some braces on it ( i think thats what u call it ). Dont worry you will see one that you really like and will fall in love with it!!
We bought it already made although it wasnt designer, it is gawjus!! i would say get one that is already made. :)
Hiya Newbienet, definitely do check out Soho Road, because there are so many shops u will find alot of variety and will surely like something. Whats ur budget btw?as a lot of the shops are expensive although if u buy off the rack they will be a lot cheaper.Khoobsurat, u on about the one on ladypool road? Iv been there a few times but most of their lengha's are traditional so u wont really find a modern cut. Iv been to Silons and Mair's. You will find a lot of modern cut lengha's in Silons but Mair's isnt amazing. The pics they have in asiana mags are usually nice but when u go there isnt actually a lot of variety, just one rack!On Ladypool road, theres a shop called Meena Bazaar and also Dulhan's/Midland fashions. Check them out! On Alum rock go to Chunri and Sache.Take a look around, there are many bridal shops there now. As for Manchester there are a few shops on Wilmslow road and Imani designer studio nearby too.
Hope that helps and u find the perfect lengha!
xxx
Cricket Pari your advice has been really usefull too!! thank you i will definately check out those places, some of them i have already been to since writing! checked out silons, i think in some dresses they tried too hard to make it modern adn it lost its touch but some dresses were nice! i am looking for a corset style top and a straight cut bottom, not too tight but definately not the traditional massive ones! i preferably want something off the rack, on the first day i went i tried on this dress that fitted just right and needed no altering BUT it is in a candy floss pink and i have this idea in my head of my other half wearing cream and red scheme for his sherwani so i declined purchase of it but if it had been in red i would have purchased it straight away! as i am fair the pink just didnt do much for my skin the hair on my head stood out but other wise you coudlnt see my neck or face or arms all you coudl see was pale pink!
yes you are right if you buy off the rack then it is cheaper! i dont care if it is designer or not, not snobby me, if i liek the style and design i will want it regardless of designer or none! my budget - £1000-£1200 dont really wnat to overspend as i KNOW you can get dresses for cheaper and lets be honest i have a whole lot of other things for the wedding that i would rather spend on!! x

Re: For the uk guppies, and those who have knowledge about shopping in the uk
rozyuk yes i went to meena bazaar, was really nicebut not enough of what i was after - found only TWO dresses of the kind i wanted!if you do come to Birmingham NEVER EVER go KHUSBOO'S it sis VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, i went and they were so rude, iw odul not wantto trust them and give 75% deposit for an order they are very bad with customer service!!! so rude!!! i have read A LOT of BAD reviews on net about them but thought i woudl give them a chance and they were AWFUL!!! some people (on net) and even a couple of my friends all said that their orders came wrong or delayed and 100% of people say they mess up and also that they keep phones off hook and difficult to get in touch!!!! RozyUK i wodul not recommend that shop but try meena bazaar, try world of fashion (although i havea friend of a friend who said they messedher dress up!) honestly girls i am seriously considring buying off the rack if it fits me and is 100% what i am after! some girls have only asked for the dress to be ordered in a shade lighter and they still got th ecolour wrong in khusboos and meena bazaar!
what do you thik about this for a design concept for a dress>> gold corset style type with banarsi material (antique gold embroidery, silver gems symmetrically scattered, with some distinct pattern...the lengha will be gold with antique gold embroidery, swarovski stones, red stones, and the lengha will be straight cut not too many panels hjust enoguh for a shape but not mermaid tyle either, somehting in between. The dupata will be matching the red embroidery and stones, it will have a heavyish border around all four sides, there will be a stoned motif in each corner - matching the lengha...so it will be a contrast of gold lengha witht he red scraf matching the red embroidery on the lengha! i now its hard to piture but i will try posting pictures up!
