I m not sure about pakistani boutiques in green st but there is one called Damini, they have pakistani style cloths too, as for ilford lane; its just 15 minutes drive from green street and there are couple of really good boutiques called Seasons, Gul Mohar, Ranis and Impressions
I've been meaning to say this for a long time everytime i hear the name green st or Ilford lane.
My parents live just off Ilford lane which is not very far from green street at all (20min drive). I probably know every single shop in both places as i've been there many times in hope for something half decent and I'm sorry to say that there is NOT even one decent shop in either place. I wouldn't bother wasting any time going there...it's full of tacky shops, clothes which are really horrible material, bad fitting and nasty kaam not to mention over priced.
It's great for food/meat/groceries shopping though!!!
thanks everyone for your replies, im actually looking for formal wear and someone mentioned gul mohar was good for formal wear, aside from its poor customer service, what are their designs like? also price range? also is henna mehndi good for formal wear?
'Payals' opposite Daminis on green st have some gorgeous wedding lehngas if thats what ur looking for. Damini is mega expensive. Other than that, for paki clothes there is mehndi, for some casual pakistani, uzma and couple more etc. You can go there and look around. Khoobsurat and some other boutiques ard khoobsurat have some pretty good clothes too, again abit more costly.
I would definitely reccomend Mendhi or Henna (sister shops) - they do nice pakistani clothes. Also try 'New Generation' on green st that does some nice semi formal ready made and loose material clothing.
I was hoping whether you geniuses could help me in telling me whether there are any wedding shops where I could get my lengha from. Ive been Southall, Green street, Birmingham and I know whats available but never been Manchester.
I understand that there are some Pakistani Boutiques but are they any good and if so... which roads can I go on?
is the shopping area more like Southall, Green St, Bham???
Sorry luv, but Manchester is kind of naff for shopping.
Have you tried Bradford? Leicester? Leeds?
Im suprised you didnt find anything in Southall/Greet Street.
Hi Milly,
Thanks hun for your suggestion, but I want to know a little more about manchester. Some girl has mentioned about a good boutique but is that all there is there. Have you been manchester? I live all the way in South and dont want to waste a journey!

I used to live up North and would frequently visit Manchester, but never for clothes shopping, especially bridal wear. Most of my relatives in Manchester go to Bradford, BlackBurn or Leeds for shopping. That boutique seems a tad pricy considering what they have to offer.
Where did you go in Green Street/Southall/ B'ham? I'm quite suprised you didnt find anything there. Everyone up North comes down South for Asian clothes!

Thanks a bunch! I think you won me over... ive been to Doli in Green st, Birmingham ive been on Soho Road and Alum Rock Rd, Southall is just ugly clothings at the moment dont know why - just the same everytime i go.. nothing different and if they are they have the same cut and design nearly everywhere. im gona give green street a shot for some more bridal wear digging - no point in manchester i understand!
