Re: For Brides planning Lahore Wedding outside of Pakistan!
I love the decor found in the wedding stepup thread posted by diamond321, she said her wedding was at City Lawn North Nazimabad Karachi, are there any locations in lahore that provide services like this? Or would i have to rent a ground and hire a decorator? she had said her venue provided all the decor which is what i prefere because it saves soo much time. I still need a valima venue. here is the link to the web page im refering too that have her pics on it http://www.paklinks.com/gs/wedding/323305-wedding-setups.html
Karma? really? there online website doesnt have any bridal less than 175,000....
im lookin at prices in Euro since im in europe...and karma have bridals upto 150,000 if i convert it....but as far as i know u can bargin and they do eventually knock it down if ur really keen.......
Re: For Brides planning Lahore Wedding outside of Pakistan!
hey everyone...so my chances of gettting a designer are pretty much out...becoz my job just told me today that they didnt approve the length of vacation i wanted..so im going to pak in Feb not Jan so that only gives me 3-4 week...im not really upset that i cant get a designer outfit but more upset that i dont want to compromise the quality and type of bridal i wanted.
My mom said that many stores sell bridal clothes that already have the kaam done and only needs to be stitched which is wht i think are my only obtions...so any suggestions for where i can shop for high quality pre-made kaam bridal??
Im so use to doing things on my own and being independent so thats why i wanna figure out now places i can look instead of depending on family in pakistan who from other wedding preparations have shown to be quite slow and lazy so its really frustrating....
Im thinking to check out gulberg area and Pace and there was a shopping centre near Pace i think it was called Liberty something?
Re: For Brides planning Lahore Wedding outside of Pakistan!
or i can quit my job...lol....really considering it so that i can enjoy my wedding preparations and have more time to stay in pak after the wedding.....
Re: For Brides planning Lahore Wedding outside of Pakistan!
^go to liberty..theres so many shops where you'll be able to customize the type of dress you're looking for. They have samples of kaam so you can pick and choose what you want. Go to dupatta galli..they have AMAZING clothes there, but make sure you go there as soon as you get to pakistan because it'll take time to get your outfit made.
just saw this thread so i thought id give some input for ur friend…
I got married last yr and got my bridal from karma. Initially I was going to go with the Malika Bridal-
In the picture the outfit has a gharara but I asked them for a lehnga instead and after bargaining they had reduced the price to Rs.150,000. It is GORGEOUS! But since it is more than a year old I’m pretty sure it will be cheaper, definitely cheaper than $3k thats listed on its site even if you get it made with a gharara; just have to have someone go there in person and bargain. But also at the time I went to them the exchange rate was near $1/Rs.60.
The bridal I ended up getting was the Jahan Ara that was listed at $7k on their website previously and now is at $3k. I’m sure you can bargain and even get it cheaper than it’s listed on their site since that also is more than a yr old.
As for you, even if you cant go to lhr because of your job situation, if your mom is going maybe she can go to karma and other designers for you. You can also check out their latest collection from the runway on GS cuz there were pics posted of them. Pick out a few dresses that look good to you and have your mom go see them in person cuz sometimes dresses that look nice on camera might not be that great upclose, in person. Maybe you can also call/email them and theyll send you pics of other bridals? If you want a designer bridal you can def get it even if you’re not in pak. Good luck!

i agree that you should check out dupatta gali in liberty. i was also in pak for 4 weeks last summer and had got both wedding dresses from there - one that had the kaam already done and just needed to get it stitched, and one customized from scratch. id suggest you look around the boutiques there, find a design that you would be happy with and get it made in the color you want...they did it for us in 3 weeks...so u have to start as soon as u get there...good luck!
thanks everyone for the suggustions, i will go there for sure....my plan is to make appointments for meetings 2 days after i get to pakistan.... one whole day for meeting photographers/makeup salons....and the next day bridal shopping.......
i talked it over with my family and fiance and im just going to quit.....i dont want to feel rushed and i want to properly meet all of my and his family in pakistan so quiting gives me the chance to stay in pakistan for 4-6 months...soooo excited.... plus i was going to quit anyways in september because my Masters program starts...
but im quiting in December so im still leaving in january and weddign is the first week of March march so getting a nice Karma bridal shouldnt be a problem...it seems that most of the prices on the websites can be easily bargained down which i didnt expect for a designer store but great to know.....my mom and i are horrible at bargaining since we dont live in pakistan and its not common in Canada so i'll take my aunt with me for sure...lol...
Mahismart...the planning is going great....as great as it can be since im not there yet but all the colors and decor have been decided...so when i get to pakistan in January i can give better updates on the progress....
for my mehandi im wearing an anarkali style or a lehanga....i really want a anarkali style but if i go to pakistan and see a new style that looks better i may change it but my first choice for now will be that.......... the color scheme is going to be yellow/orange,pink and blue(not sure if its blue but im sure you know what color im talking about...)
my outfit will have all three colors and my girl cousins will be wearing one of the three colors and the guys will have black shalwars with one of 3 colors for there dupattas.... will post pics after the mehandi.........
other than that everything else is on hold until i get to pakistan.. i know what i want for my stages and table setting but all of that will be finalized with the venues when i get there..only 3 more months.!!
need your opinion on one issue........... as i mentioned before my mehandi is booked at Nadeems and now my inlaws are thinking of having the valima there too.......... is it weird to use the same venue twice?

lol thanks! its because im not in pakistan so i've had to look harder....and i'm very use to being dependent and getting things done on my own so having to plan a wedding without being in the country is very hard and frustrating for me...lol..but gupshup and the people on it have been really helpful!!
i have a question for everyone off wedding topic, hopefully i can get some input since some of you are living in pakistan..... my soon to be sis-in-law (fiances's brothers wife) is pregnant and i am planning her baby shower...the shower is after my wedding.....
how are baby showers in pakistan? do they have any games or activities like we do overseas? Are the showers before or after the baby is born? she's due in April and im having her party late march. Im planning a really big party because it will be the first grandchild on my fiances side and buying all the party supplies from Canada to take with me.
Im kinda worried that the party may seem over the top for some....... i asked my mom about it and she said that it should be fine...

Re: For Brides planning Lahore Wedding outside of Pakistan!
