so like..whenever ive been cooking fish or chicken lately, it just sticks to the pan… am i not adding enough oil to the pan or is it too much and too hot by the time i add the food? Is it b/c theres water on it from rinsing it or dab0oo-ing it in water to defreeze it? PS, This also happens when I make pasta or rice dishes (those prepackaged ones), so much sticks to the bottom of the dish… it’s such a nuisance to clean them later on. Please help me, i dont want to suck my poor husbands wallet dry from having to eat out all the time b/c i cant cook right ![]()
Re: Food sticking to the dish
Make sure to lightly grease the pan. Also fist heat the pan, then add the oil, hopefully food won't stick to the pan.
Re: Food sticking to the dish
But I already do that.....
Re: Food sticking to the dish
you heat the pan and then add oil?
Also make sure your food is not on too high heat. Always cook your food on medium low heat and try to cover it. Turn the food after few mins.
Re: Food sticking to the dish
hm, no i add oil after about a minute (on high heat) and then turn the heat to medium and add the food after like 2-4 minutes (err too long?)... i leave it on medium to medium low but don't cover it. it sticks right away.
Re: Food sticking to the dish
use non stick pans...
Well if sticks right away then, then reduce the heat, then add the food, flip it or stir it after a second or two to prevent it from sticking.
Re: Food sticking to the dish
Okay... Ill keep it mind
what about pasta/rice dishes though? unn ka kya karoon =/
Re: Food sticking to the dish
Well for pasta, always heat the oil, then reduce the heat and add pasta. Also make sure you add pasta in some sort of sauce and not sauce in pasta. Adding pasta to the sauce keeps pasta from sticking. Also make sure to keep/cook it on low heat. Plus when you have pasta in the sauce you don't need long cooking time anyway because the pasta is always cooked. When you are boiling the pasta make sure you stir it frequently and add couple drops of oil to the boiling water, it always help.
And same for those pre-packaged rice, cook them on low heat, make sure you stir them and hopefully they won't stick to the bottom of the pan. Also always grease your pan.

These have made my life so easy! particularly when cooking rice!
ok, so yesterday I was frying aaloo ke kebabs, had a coating of aata on both sides. I found that the trick is to have the oil really hot before putting the kebabs in (i was frying them on a tawa), otherwise they'd stick to the bottom.
and how do you put the chawal on "dum"? I found placnig a tawa underneath the pot on a really low heat helps...

good tips pinks...
...i usually dont do the tawa thing for plain rice but i do for biryani and the likes.
Re: Food sticking to the dish
I don't have a tawa thing over here..lol.. so i just leave the rice on very low heat.
Re: Food sticking to the dish
what brand of Non stick pots do you use? we have Tefal but the “non-stick” part seems to be wearing off! I wanna get the ones by Jamie Oliver but man are they pricey. Lekin if its good quality then i guess its worth the price ![]()
