^ I didnt bought any mithai
Congrats Srilanka, you played like a champion and you deserve this title, hope our selectors learns something out of this. Sanga was a class act as always been, and Malinga used his bowlers and himself very well. We didnt had a good opening to put up a big score, then came the Tuk Tuk from Yuvraj (i still dont understand what he was doing), he isnt fit physically or mentally, he better play some domestic cricket for few months and try playing in the test squad.

no no..disagree uncle
you are talking with benefit of hindsight..you need to understand cricket strategically
when rohit left it was 11th over....not 15th or 16th over..there was some time left in the match and india needed partnership....henc dhoni sent yuvi so that he can use 5-7 deliveries and then go for hits....no one knew he will be frozen..you cannot send raina then because if he is out quickly, yuvi will never be able to hit from ball 1 as he used to do in the past..hence yuvi had to be sent then
second, yuvi being a left hander is one of the best to slog spinners on the leg side..on the knee and hit it through the spin towards smaller boundary...but today was just not yudi day
and no yuvi is not a selfish players...he was completely frozen...in last 10-12 balls he tried his best to get out...he could not even get the ball on his bat..poor guy
That precisely is the problem nowadays. Leadership without imagination that passes for strategy. Only 8.5 overs to go, and we need to build? This kind of negative thinking makes Misbah and Dhoni mirror images of each other. This overemphasis on building. Blocking. And then going for broke with 5 overs to go.
If you ran a long distance event like that you get ur ash handed to you.
Anyone following the game knew BEFOREHAND that Yuvi is not in good form. I was against his inclusion before this game. With 15 over to go it makessense to block a little. With 8.5 overs to go and 8 Wkt? In hand if a team does not play positive cricket it deserves to be laughed off the field.
Time for new leadership. Time to close the door on Yuvraj. And Dhoni. Who hasn't done anything abroad. Or outside subcontinent

Mom and I enjoyed the game..we were screaming and shouting…and hubby said, “Thisara Perera needs to just hit one 6 and one 4 and it will be all over for India …(this was when I thought we were going to lose!)…”, and then after a few shots it came…wohoooo…
BTW…I really don’t know why they are blaming Yuvi…I feel so bad for him…they should blame the selectors…
Re: Final - India v Sri Lanka, (06 April 2014) Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur

OK....
benefit of hindsight is always a great tool...i didnt see anyone one saying why yuvi is out there when he walked out
here is what dhoni thinking...the guy yuvi just scored 60 runs on 45 odd balls against england...didnt he? and then run a ball against SA...so yes he is out of form but he is coming back to form...and he has done some magical things in past plus he plays really well againt off spin (slog on leg side)...so let me send him out otherwise it will be too late because he cannot just go start hitting from ball 1 like dhoni and raina can do later on.....now who knew yuvi will freeze so bad....it never happened before.
what yuvi ended up with was so painful ....he just froze ..now i dont know if it was just one bad day or he has lost it....my gut is telling me he is finished....at least for now. he needs to go back to ranji and spend a lot of time in the middle....i like the man, though and my heart goes out for him for what he is going through.
Re: Final - India v Sri Lanka, (06 April 2014) Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
I don't post when game is on. Didn't watch England and south Africa game. Did watch him in one game when he struggled mightily. Used up lot of runs. Was it against windies? I remember writing here abt what my impressions of him. I thought he was finished then. And that's no hindsight.
With abt 8 overs and 3 balls left., to send a batsman who takes time to settle down is mind boggling.
In fact when Sri Lanka sent perreira ahead of another player commentator criticized him.. said the other player is calmer etc. This has become a nonsense trend. That u have got t consume balls all the time. Build foundation.
Perreira was right choice. NOT due to hindsight. He took the game OUT of India's Hans with POSITIVE approach. Which Dhoni lacks.

"All we saw was that after the game ended and Yuvraj walked up from his position at deep midwicket to shake hands with team-mates and the opposition, Kohli quietly slunk away when the senior batsman came close to him" Cricinfo
Re: Final - India v Sri Lanka, (06 April 2014) Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
Yuvraj pulled a Hafeez today, and it's sad because Yuvraj's as a batsman is million miles ahead of Hafeez.
Yuvraj is a tremendously powerful, clean and classy hitter but he's certainly not a mindless slogger, and the way Sri Lanka was bowling, any new player would've taken some deliveries to settle, even an in form and totally settled Kohli was struggling for boundaries towards the end. In hindsight, Raina or Dhoni himself should've come before Yuvraj. But still, last minute hitting is not always a possibility when the opposition's doing the best possible death bowling. Sri Lankan bowlers did their homework, they were just better prepared and Indian batsmen took things for granted.
It almost feels like an end of him, but I'm still hopeful that he'd make a comeback.
Re: Final - India v Sri Lanka, (06 April 2014) Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
^even during the presentation, after Kohli got Player of the Tournament, Yuvi came and congratulated him, he was on his mobile busy texting and he just glanced up at Yuvi and continued on...so bloody rude! There is no sportsmanship in him or the others for that matter!
How come they are not ignoring Dhoni...he was not able to make runs as well...and what about the player who dropped the catch....how come they are not ignoring him...and the selectors...lets not forget about that.....very unfair the way they are going about it....and I think the whole world saw it.
Re: Final - India v Sri Lanka, (06 April 2014) Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
Kohli is pretty unlikeable as an individual, no matter how great of a young cricketer he's turning out to be on the field. If there's anything that might just prevent him from actually going down as a great in history is his attitude! BCCI is no PCB so he might want to watch out.
And speaking of players with serious attitude problem, where is Gambhir these days?
Re: Final - India v Sri Lanka, (06 April 2014) Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
I do not know why some Indians are upset because India lost to SL. It was expected, as Sri-Lankan team overall was stronger than Indian team, that any person with little knowledge of cricket and players should have known. If Malinga would not have dropped Kholi’s catch, Indian total would not have even reached 100 … for instance, leaving kholi inning, rest of Indian team played 62 balls and made 47 runs (that includes Sharma 29 runs off 26 balls).
It was not all about under-performance of Indian batting but Sri-Lankan bowling was well balanced and quite effective. With bowling quality India has, India needed over 180 runs to give any challenging total to Sri-Lanka and even that total would not have been big enough to write off SL chances of win, as SL has enough batsmen in team capable to achieve that target in 20 overs or less.
Actually, when UV came to bat, Indian total was 64 for 2 after 63 balls (10.3 overs) and I believe that total of 64 was not enough at that stage to give reasonable defending end total (considering SL bowling quality). So, one cannot put fault completely on UV and Dhonni batting for low score.
After assessing SL and Indian team, I was quite certain that SL would win the final if all goes according to strength of both teams. This is what I wrote to KKF when he questioned my assessment.#185](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/cricketnama/639017-world-t20-2nd-semi-final-india-v-south-africa-at-dhaka-apr-4-2014-a-11.html#post9982989)
