Guys this is open discrimination. Musharaf disobeys oath and he's made prez. Ganja breaks oath and gets flown charter to jeddah palace. These poor cowards called paki army break oath and you want them to be jailed? They should be awarded two nishaie-heder each and promoted.

Oops, looks like no deal. Good, I hope both the terrorists and cowards die together.
Re: Fighters 'snatch Pakistan troops' (merged)
at least if nothing else, they all should be listed in Guinness Book or Who's Who cuz they have achieved something which no other modern day army in the world has been able to do - to surrender in more than a company strength to a bunch of militia men and that too without firing a single shot !!
Afther having them listed in Guiness Book, all those saved bullets should be used to award each of them - a hole in their heads.
Re: Fighters 'snatch Pakistan troops' (merged)
Yes, they have singlehandedly turned the sacrifices of 1,000+ dead Pakistani soldiers into nothing.

a thrashing and court martial I hope, if it's established why they didnt offer any resistance...
Re: Fighters 'snatch Pakistan troops' (merged)
"Established" is the key word..
Re: Fighters 'snatch Pakistan troops' (merged)
Let's see. Isn't musharaf chief of. Armed svcs in and to being prez? Isn't he accountavle for this international disgrace?
Oh I forgot. A dictator is npt accountable
Re: Fighters 'snatch Pakistan troops' (merged)
Let the conditons under which surrender occured become clear. 300 men does not make a poor .5 million men force. These 300 who either showed cowardice or (worse) rfused to engage the enemy should be punished.
Re: Fighters 'snatch Pakistan troops' (merged)
The point to note is that the captured soldiers were from paramilitary units that are not part of the Pakistan Army. They are from units under the command of the Interior Ministry, rather than under responsibility of the Army.
If the paramilitaries don't have the stomach to fight, then we need to use the Army instead.

Agree. Please explain the difference to Abdullah K.

Seriously, there is such a media blackout in the area that I don't what to believe. If FC is used and they are paramilitary, then why do we use the word soldier for them???? I only believe that they can become "soldiers" if there india attacks us [we declare war] like the rangers [coast guards, whatever we have, becomes part of navy]. Who knows if the ISPR is trying to cover up??? Punjabi troops aren't acclimatized and trained for this mountain warfare. PA didn't even have warm clothing [used the white overalls used in siachen] when the operations first started.
PS Why were three army officers commanding FC because i keep hearing that??? Shouldn't an interior ministry force have its own structure?

The term "soldiers" is used in many conflicts for paramilitary forces, such as the Bosnian-Serb forces during the Yugoslav civil war.
At any rate, the structure of the Frontier Constabulary means that it comes under the control of the interior ministry. Officers are lent from the army to the Interior Ministry for the purpose of leading these men.
This is normal for the Interior Ministry, which does not have its programmes and academies for developing leadership personnel for its soldiers. One of my uncles in the Pakistan Army was seconded to the Interioir Ministry for the purposes of leading part of the anti-narcotics force several years ago. Once that assignment was over, he returned to being part of the Army.
Re: Fighters 'snatch Pakistan troops' (merged)
The narcotics forces isn't used for law enforcement purposes like the army. It is more like the ATF [now ATFE?] in the US.
Re: Fighters 'snatch Pakistan troops' (merged)
They are men with guns, call them soldiers or whatever you like, but they are organized very much like the army with ranks and all, just not that level of training or equipment. All there commissioned officers are from the army. The army when active, haven't exactly done wonders either in the region. The difference between pakistan's paramilitary and regular forces is very little in real terms.

The difference is that the army doesn't give up without a fight like interior ministry troops seem to be doing.
