Femininity

Re: Femininity

Its hilarious and sad at the same time to see desi definition of femininity starting and ending at haye Allah this and haye Allah that mannerism. LMAO.

Re: Femininity

:hehe:

Re: Femininity

there are *other * desi definitions of femininity too but those are just too exclusive to post on this family forum :)

Re: Femininity

Either this way or high way definitions eh?

Re: Femininity

no pretty standard definitions accepted in one-form or another in pretty much any society be it Desi or Goree.

Re: Femininity

Not necessarily. As an ex student of literature and art and currently interested fashion and media, I can say that there are indeed standard definition*s* of femininity, its not rocket science or something so indefinable. Ofcourse speaking from Western society's point of view.

Re: Femininity

To me, femininity is all about aesthetics, and interestingly, one of the meanings of aesthetics is sensitivity.

Re: Femininity

more sensitive means more feminine??

Re: Femininity

Well, it means to have the ability to feel the beauty in art and nature and taste, and more sensitivite to pains and pleasures.

Re: Femininity

yeah...thats a nice definition....'aurat hasaas hoti hai'
overly 'sensitive' guy is called a zanaana :D

Re: Femininity

^or putting it this way, aurat is supposed to be hassas and khushzauq.

Now hassas doesn't mean weak or wet sock.

Re: Femininity

khushzauq can't be restricted to gender.....anyone could have a nice 'zauq'...

Re: Femininity

That is just a bad and ignorant desi way of putting the women down. The jahil Arabs didn't like the loving and caring traits in the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) because they thought it's womanly. Men should accept that it's okay to have some feminine traits in them.

Re: Femininity

so why call them zannana then?

Re: Femininity

:smack: the key word was ‘overly’…sensitivity is more of a trait women are supposed to have as per society

Re: Femininity

femininity: the trait of behaving in ways considered typical for women.

so, what is "typical" women behavior?

Re: Femininity

I don't think its about being loving or caring, being sensitive in a way that you are obviously and seriously afraid of hardship, and men are naturally designed to endure physical and mental hardship better than women.

Re: Femininity

You are contradicting yourself here

"hayee allah" is just a slag/standard term used for being "Afraid of hardship" .. ..

Re: Femininity

You're right but I was talking about Arabs of jahiliya who never kissed their children and when they saw the Prophet(SAW) kissing his grandsons it was shocking to them and they called him womanly.

Also, women are or supposed to be more motherly and caring than men but also women are able to bear more physical pain than men.

Re: Femininity

Good to know. I thought its related to being extremely dumb (blond).
