Iam afraid you need to compare religions with religions, not religions and political societies. Christianity, Judaism and Islam all reject homosexuality of any form or kind.

Only reason why Western culture is seen to accept homosexuality is because of its openness in all matters related to its citizens. Asian society to which the bulk of muslims belongs has been relatively closed in terms of sexuality. That doesnt mean homosexuality was or is not being practiced in these regions. Qom-e-Luth is discussed in the Quran, such tendencies hv been looked down yet widely practiced. Therefore to blame west wud be unfair and reveals a self-righteous attitude on part of those claiming to be better.

This is off topic, but counters the self-righteous attitude of many devoted Muslim Bros & Sis. No society is free from these tendencies, particularly those with repressed social orders and refusal to acknowledge their humanness.

Two teenagers’ sex act in toilet caught on tape!

ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi Police have arrested two teenage schoolboys who were videotaped having sex in the toilet of their school.

The two Arab boys, Karim M. (16), and Hisham N. (17), were videotaped by another student using Bluetooth.

The police were alerted when the Security Affairs Department at the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police received a tip-off that the obscene video-clip was being circulated among the secondary school students on to their mobile via Bluetooth, Colonel Abdul Karim Al Marzouqi, Director of the Security Affairs Department, said yesterday.

After thorough investigation, the police identified the two boys who appeared on the clip. The investigation also showed that the first accused boy, Karim, used to have sex with the second, Hisham, for the past four years.

The second accused decided to set the first accused up with the help of the third student, Somer M. (20), so that he could blackmail him.

He invited the first accused to have sex with him in the school’s toilet, while the third boy sneaked in to videotape them.

The incident was also watched by a number of students.

Somer confessed to having agreed with Hisham to videotape them in order to blackmail the first accused and ask for cash otherwise they will circulate the video clip.

Somer’s mobile also contained many other obscene videos.

A third accused, Abdul Aziz H. (17), who, along with several other students, watched the two having sex was also interrogated by the police.

He was accused of instigating the crime. Abdul Aziz, however, denied the charges.

Colonel Abdul Karim Al Marzouqi said the four accused were taken into police custody at the Delinquents Prosecution. They will be referred to court.

He cautioned against the misuse of technology in such crimes, saying that crimes committed by using Bluetooth or picture messages even if they seem minor they are punishable under the law.

Firstly you forget i mention proof. A majority of history is documented and then some are translated. I doubt anybody has found any documentation on the fact that some Pharoah used to molest kids.

Minah look up the definition of strawman and then re-read what PCG was stating.

Fartguru I have had this discussion before, do a search on the concept of Islamic society or civilization. If you want to re-start the discussion I am more than willing. The concept of an Islamic society and civilization is extremely well accepted. But then again humans are known for irrational biases.

Now on to the subject matter. Firstly lets look at context. Of which time is an important element. In Islamic society homosexuality was deemed wrong and incorrect so the practice was forbidden. To state it could have happened is a strawman and i don’t wish to discuss the personal opinions of individuals on matters which only Allah can have absolute certainity on.

Now it was outlawed and the practice was elminated. The re-emergence of the practice and the openness of its nature is based on the over-arching affect of western dogma and cultural influence.

point is that certain social evils are increasing because of increased westernization. you’re looking through the world with a very coloured eye if you think ferraris and mobiles are the only thing the west is bringing.

CM - homosexuality may be haram and not acceptable, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. The is like what I said earlier about sweeping the dirt under the rug, it’s still there, just not spoken openly about.

If you really want an eye-opener, got to any on-line dating service and look into the profiles of men looking for men in the great nation of pakistan. OH YEAH all the Islamic nations are listed, with a LOT of men looking for discrete encounters with other men, most married of course. Never mind women.

It could be said it could have existed for only 2 days. The point is that the openness in which the matter is discussed and disclosed is due to the over-arching influence of western society.

It exists. So does murder. Racism. Genocide and rape. Does that make it right? Of course not. The discussion here is not whether it exists in modern day societies. It does. But it is wrong regardless.

minah, this still doesnt prove that it isnt westernization. the unhealthy aspects of western influence on our society (and other muslim societies in asia) is a social problem, which means that it is large enough to have us worried. the segment of the population that uses the internet is mostly the educated, urbanized segment to begin with, and theres a good chance that they're included in the population that has been impacted by western influence

Ravage - understand, I used to think when people were speaking about westernization they meant the US, but I realize they mean everywhere outside of Asia, right? You may want to ponder on that.

Westernization refers to the “White” world. That is how it has been defined for decades by the west and by the rest of the world. This includes Australia, New Zealand and Israel. Japan has never been considered a “Western” nation.

CM - how about less "over-arching influence of western society" and that the advent of different media (internet, braodband, cell phones, planes, trains, automobiles, anything that shortens distance) showing an alternative to the "only one way to go, only one thing to do" mentality, giving people options and making them WANT to talk. People don't talk about nor reach for something they don't want, it isn't in human nature.
