Re: Fasting in summer
Even then it was in November to October which are very mild month as far as temperature is concerned. Another reason for that is the religious mindedness of the people of the area you have mentioned.

Re: Fasting in summer
I think Roza is only for rich and the middle class.
I always appreciate your sensible posting but saying something as silly as your statement on a public forum is bit callow. Who am I or you here to decide something about Allah’s commandment ?
Re: Fasting in summer
here in the scorching summer heat of the arabian desert, only a few ever skip fasting....
perhaps u shud move to a place where the level of faith is a bit higher....
Re: Fasting in summer
Fasting in hot and sizzling summer is really very tough. I hardly see any of the people who work in the open in hot sun and humid wind, ever fasting. Even people working in the offices avoid fasting.
My Dad works in Oman and he see's all these poor "maintenance" ppl working in the middle of the day under the scorching sun... and a lot of them are poor muslims from south india adn bangladesh, they all fast! And which part of the world r u talking about in regards to the ppl who work in offices and still manage to not fast?

Re: Fasting in summer
I was working in London. My office colleages were mainly muslims. But among them, the only people who were not fasting, were our Pakistanies. The three Somallies, five Afghanies and half of the 15 Pakistanies used to fast.
Re: Fasting in summer

Re: Fasting in summer
The roza falling on June 22 in Lahore is larger than the one in Karachi by 32 minutes.
But the roza falling on December 22 is shorter in Lahore by 30 minutes as compared to one in Karachi.

Re: Fasting in summer
And it will be back in June after 36 years.
Ramadan takes 6 years to pass a solar month - first three years in head and later three years in tail.
Things don't add up :)
Lunar month passes one solar month every 3 years (10 days shorter).
Re: Fasting in summer
It started on May 8 in 1986.
what about 1950? the ramadan was not there or June was not there? :D
