Islamabad: Chief Justice (CJ) of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has barred his son Arsalan Iftikhar from entering his family house or contacting him.
According to latest updates the hearing of the case is adjourned till tomorrow and the decision is also expected.
Earlier today Arsalan Iftikhar confirmed to the media that his father disowned him until the resolution of the alleged graft case against him.
Hearing the suo-moto corruption case involving Arsalan Iftikhar and business tycoon Malik Riaz, Chief Justice of Pakistan commented that no concession will be given to his son, who is the accused in the case.
Chief Justice warned that all offices of Bahria Town in Pakistan will be sealed. The Chief Justice sternly ordered senior officers of Bahria Town, including Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz, to appear before the court today.
Moreover, the Chief Justice directed renowned journalists, Hamid Mir, Najam Sethi, Kamran Khan and Shaheen Sehbai to immediately hand over all relevant material to the court. ****ISLAMABAD: Arsalan Chaudhry, son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on Wednesday denied allegations of receiving Rs300 to Rs400 million and lavish foreign tours from Bahria Town, Express News reported.
A suo motu hearing on reports of financial corruption is underway by a three-member bench.
Upon reaching the court, Arsalan, while speaking to the media said that he was not not allowed to “go back home” until the court gave its verdict.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday had summoned Arsalan, Attorney General of Pakistan Irfan Qadir and Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz.
A personal staff officer informed the court that Riaz was in the UK, where he was undergoing a treatment.
The attorney general, objecting to the bench, said that it was against the code of conduct that chief justice hears the case.
The chief justice replied that he had taken notice of the attorney general’s objection and that it will be mentioned in the order.
Chief Justice Chaudhry observed that if evidence is found against anyone, proceedings will be carried out according to the law.
Justice Jawad S Khwaja observed that the chief justice’s son was not above the law and that action could be taken against him.
The attorney general, addressing Justice Jawad S Khwaja said that he was getting “very emotional” and objected that he should not hear the case.

Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took notice of rumours that had begun to appear on the media that his son had received Rs300 to Rs400 million and lavish foreign tours from the Bahria Town chairman in questionable ‘business deals’ – but why he had taken the money is unclear.
Some reports allege that Arsalan Chaudhry had taken the money and promised the business tycoon that all corruption cases against him would disappear.
Justice Chaudhry, while taking notice of the corruption allegation, summoned the attorney general to appear before the court, with the two alleged perpetrators. Yes I second you that he shouldnt have been part of the bench deciding the case, but still its a bold decision. Time has come to punish the mafias (in this case Malik Riaz) along with his son so as to set an example.

We all know Malik Riaz wouldn’t appear in the Court.
We also know now PPP is going to distance itself from this episode all together. Something many suspect they were planning. As was apparent from the tweet of Ch Fawad to Sehbai.

Your argument doesnt make sense. Why should CJ resign if his son is being accused of corruption? His son is an individual in his own right, and is responsible for his own actions..... unless you are implying that the CJ was a partner in taking bribes from Malik Riaz?
However, I do agree that the CJ should not hear this case, regardless of how impartial he may seem. It is against professional ethics to do so. He should have deferred the case to other judges.
One thing is for sure. Revenge politics is at its peak.....cases against PPP, against PML-N, and now against CJs son........and that is leading certain people to do 'hawai firing' by criticizing third parties with tasteless dialogues and poetry.
