Extreme?

Is Islam influencing the minds of our people in a negative manner? Do we ought to adjust ourselves according to the society we live in?

If this is how we are going to live then we deserve to be bombed

Is christianity to blame for the rapes and murders that christians do?
Is hinduism to blame for the killings and pain that hindu's inflict on each other?

a criminal has no religion. he will remain a criminal no matter what religion he follows ...

The only problem is that we keep walking away from the peace and code of life that religion teaches us and then when we get twisted we try to find excuses in the religion ! thats us humans .... we should be ashamed of ourselves not the religion we follow... its "us" who comit the crimes , the religion never said shoot your daughters or rape them !

I hope that freaking rapist murderer burns in hell for eternity.

Re: Extreme?

Well said sister but what do you think about victims of rape and Islam? Sharia states that 4 witnesses must be presented before the sharia courts (who were present at the incident). What does this say about Islam?

What ??????????? Is this a religious question.....Make your question clear my man

have you thought the other way round , if a woman blames a mans character without enough proof .. then what? and because you dont have complete understanding of the religion you will start pointing fingers at how bad an influence the religion is?

Islam is a complete religion, its us human beings and the followers of the religion that do not tend to understand the religion properly.

Re: Extreme?

[mod]The thread is NOT political, moving it from Pakistan Affairs to Culture where it belongs[/mod]

Its not Islam influencing the mind, clearly its the "honor" of the man influencing him. If it was "Islam" he shouldn't have moved it here in first place, he should've been more careful about the upbringing of the children.

Re: Extreme?

Thanks Captain1. I was thinking about moving it to Multimedia Forum.

Re: Extreme?

hahaha.. so, if a Muslim commits a crime, its Islam influencing the brain. Otherwise, its just another one of those petty thugs?

So if this crime was committed by a Muslim in one of the safest cities in the world, would it be ‘honor killing’ and ‘Islamic teachings’ influencing him?

Well said. :biggthumb:

Re: Extreme?

so the trolls come, vent their anti-Islam or anti-Pakistan agenda and disappear? interesting.

Re: Extreme?

I think we need to separate religion from culture, and the actions of the individuals. In many instances Muslim men have used the crutch of Islam to justify their criminal actions, for that they have to be condemned.

Re: Extreme?

Its true as some of the above posts has pointed out that there can be alot of reasons for the criminal acts described in the first post.

But what makes me wonder about our culture, is that why an honor killer is perceived as a respected person, rather than a condemned killer?

Why don't we loudly condemn such a person ? Who given him the right to take the life of another individual based on his twisted concept of honor?

We had to ask the right questions...

Re: Extreme?

^ every culture has its twists. There is no universal 'right' or 'wrong'. One (not me... dont bash me!) could argue that how can a person live with any dignity having lost his honour? One can ask why do Japanese have to commit suicide at the slightest of mistakes.

I am not defending anything but just trying to say that the things not acceptable in one culture don't really have to be 'bad' for other cultures. Honor killing would have been perfectly acceptable in Europe until 200 years ago. Were they right then or are they right now.. its a question no one can answer.

But then, I would accept that our culture has much more 'twists' than there are in others.

Re: Extreme?

I have not quoted any other culture here, so why you are mixing this with moral relativism. I'm a member of this society and i don't see any reason, rather than pure ignorance/ violence that one shall allow and accept honor killing.

One can understand why only men are in favor of it, because it allows them the opportunity to dictate the rules of the game and treat women as their property.

Relativism of morality is not a excuse for "honor killing", The point which is missed is that culture is never something stagnant. So if there is something which is not right one has to criticize it, so that its improved.

And there is always a room for improvement.

*We don't have to look at any other culture to know that killing someone is wrong. *

If it was acceptable 200 years ago in the west, that does not make it right for anybody.

Re: Extreme?

^ that's what i am saying. The culture is fluid and so are the concepts of right and wrong.

Re: Extreme?

I guess it would be better if you can express your opinion about right and wrong more clearly, Let me ask you simple question.

If someone wants to kill you, because according to his opinion your are deserving to be killed for so and so reasons, and there are alot of people who approve this action, would you call it a cruelty, or fluidity of culture and of right and wrong?

Its is serious question..

Re: Extreme?

4rth and 5th video.. do they actually show the dead body of girls ... if that is the case, I am going to ask the Mods/CMs to remove the video ..Just a link is fine ..

Please people, to make your point, there is no need to put disturbing videos and images .. have a little decency here.

Re: Extreme?

Again, there is no universally accepted right or wrong. It differs with cultures and over time. A lot of people think Israel did the right thing by bombing Gaza and at the same time, a lot of people think they did the wrong thing. A huge number of people were declared heretics and killed and it was the 'right' thing to do around 15th century in Europe. The same act in Europe now would be considered barbaric. Lets get back to the topic now please.

Re: Extreme?

for Aarzoo....

since i dont know whether u r a man or a woman, let me put the question like this....

if a woman accuses ur father of raping her, wud u want the court to ask for witnesses/proof of wud u want the court to just take her word for it and punish ur father....
