point is - the phrase “rights being stripped” imply that this is a need of a man - like stripping a person’s right to water.
DH has a great point - which I echoed earlier. Polygamy is not a NEED. What of all you muslim men living in the States? And other countries that outlaw polygamy?
Do you feel like your rights are being stripped? Is it like being force-fed pork?

Why are you justifying everything with Islam even where it’s solely irrelevant? Rationalize your defendings without the help of Islam for a change. It could be more satisfying.

No it’s not a must and nowhere did I even imply that. All I said was that it is allowed regardless of the actions of humans (some men not being equal). Sorry for any misunderstandings.

As far as maddie is concerned, he can always have a second wife in Pakistan. Or in another state, you know there have been many people (who evetually got caught) who had done just that. Wives in three to four different states. Imagin, a home cooked meal, nice bed and a woman to play..err I mean comfort you in every state. :)

A classic for the ages. You’re right, polygamy can never be a need, don’t know what God was thinking when He decided to include it in the Quran. Maybe it’s some sort of fringe benefit for men because we have to put with women?

Tell me how it is a need. If it were a need, then shouldn't you be working hard to work up the charm on at least 2 women like starting now...you'll need energy to work on coaxing the 3rd and 4rth to marry you. Its like adding electrons on as you increase in shell number.

From the beginning I was talking from the view point of Islam. Never did i post my personal opinions.
It doesn’t matter what I personally think of polygamy because in the end God knows more than me and I honestly believe that the Quran is the final word of God. I was only talking about the permissibility of polygamy from the perspective of Islam.

It’s not a need for me. But it can be for other men AND women. It was certainly a common need in olden times. Point is, there are good reasons for its existance and logic behind its allowance. Refuting that is blasphemy.
