Kisi Ne Kia Khoob Kaha Hai:

Cricket Mein Koi Bhi Jeetay. Jeet to England Ki Hoti Hai.

Wishing and hoping is something understandable.

What's up with this 'praying on rug' for it??

^ Oh pesh!

:AID:

Jeet sirf Pakistani ki huwi hai...!!

Re: Everyone run to your prayer-mats!

I don’t like cricket much, but after all the shi’te news about what has been happening in pakistan lately, this is like fresh air. Something to be happy about :k:

I can't stand test matches..but I can sit thru a 20 over match!

:AID:

The 'best' team has won.. did you tell your friend that Lafanter?

:AID:

OK. ;-)

Re: Everyone run to your prayer-mats!

Next, people will go to Haj and Umrah to pray for 'cricket team'?

^ Why not? You can ask for anything..

Re: Everyone run to your prayer-mats!

I see nothing wrong with praying for your team's win regardless of the team you might be supporting. Like Gina said, we can ask for whatever we wish.

I suppose this time around, we've seen more religious fervor from Pakistanis in their wishing for a win because of the rather dismal domestic situation in the country and people needed a reason to be happy even if just for a few moments - just to escape the bleak news they're hearing day in and day out. Even religious scholars joined in with prayers on television from what I've heard.

I know what you are saying.

But, wasting time and efforts especially on such useless effort to hit a round red ball across a big circle to be able to make a fast silly run between two ends of wooden pole ends is worse than praying to be better human being to be able to help other human and learn the ways to make lives better for needy, illeterate and sick people.

Come on.

Do you really think Allah/God cares what you do to pray for a stupid GAME which means hitting a red ball with a wooden flat bat?

Funny idea to say the least.

**Prayer rug is not meant for such a silly reason **my dear friends.

Go and wish for it but **do not try to disgrace a prayer rug, Hajj or Umrah **for such a low grade reason.

Please pray for a sick.

Pray for a needy.

Pray for peace.

Pray for your parents and family

Pray for better life and being able to help other human being.

I absolutely know what you might be thinking, but try to swallow what I said. **

A game is still a game at the end of day not worth emotional rampage.**

I don't see why praying for all of the above and praying for a sports win have to be mutually exclusive... and nor do I think that adding a "seemingly" small wish to your prayer list will dilute your entire prayer. God is all-knowing and in His infinite wisdom, he knows what wishes to grant and what not to. A sports win might not mean much to one person, but for another person it symbolizes national victory and hope... and praying for hope and victory isn't really wrong.

In the end, it may be more or less meaningful to different people. Why impose your own sense of significance on other people?

Isn't this what OP the respected moderator did?

Go run and get on a rug and pray!

You mentioned infinite wisdom of almighty.

And in his all wisdom you will never find hitting a red ball with flat wooden bat and run between two ends on ground **as something he would even care for.

If I am wrong, please ***provide a single proof of ANY God's/Allah's/Supreme Being's words from the time human was brought on this world to support your opinion.*

Please do not take me wrong. All I have tried to present that praying for SILLY reason is waste of our efforts and missing the opportunity to ask for something much better.

And my friend, I never tried to say anything is mutually exclusive. You just made it up which is not fair.

As I said before. **wishing, hoping for it all fine and dandy in some limits, **but going on to prayer rug and praying to God/ Allah is just seems very silly idea.

Extreme emotions for anything stupid like this is plain and simple hilarious.

I’m sorry if I misinterpreted your earlier post. It just sounded like you were assuming that if a person is praying for a cricket win, he/she might not be praying for the aspects that you had highlighted.

How can we know what God may or may not care about? Who knows what repercussions a seemingly minute cricket win might bring about. Hypothetically, the positive attitude in the nation might lead to other good things as a result of public action. Again, we as human beings don’t know and can’t predict these things. What may seem minuscule at one time might cause ripples that bring about more meaningful changes.

I just know that God has advised us to ask and He shall give with the provision that it isn’t something immoral or perverse. I don’t see praying for cricket as that.

In the end, I am of the opinion that no one has the right to restrict anyone else’s right to personal expression of belief and faith, no matter what that belief might be.

Well, let me answer one by one.

1- If you do not know what God may or may not care about then you are saying you have not studied religionsto get even a general idea.

Cricket is not something however you can ever prove God cares about cricket game.

So far no proof from you and just your emotional attachment with the game.
NOT EVEN BY ANY STRETCH OF THOUGHT OR EXTENSION OF TEACHINGS IN ANY RELIGIONS...ENOUGH TO MAKE SOMEONE PRAY TO GOD.

2- Try me. What good did this so called positive attitude brought to nation so far??

3- You do not see praying for cricket like that, but I did not mention immorality or perversion to begin with.

All I said mixing prayer with stupid game like this is silly.

4- No one is restricting here to anyone. Go ahead, pray all night and rub your forehead, that cricket team makes better score from hitting a round ball harder so YOUR chosen God grant them success.

Allah/God/Supreme Being as I understand does not care for this and has never cared for it. And you have failed to provide the evidence to the contrary.

Go ahead and love the game all you want but please do not make a mockery of praying on rug, umrah or Haj. These acts are not meant for these 'trivial' matters.

okay so why don't you show me some evidence that suggests that God does not care about such things? My opinion was based on my understanding that God has advised us to ask and He shall give... and He hasn't specified that people should not pray for sports. the way I see it, if religion defines your way of life, then prayers are an essential component of every facet of your life, and there's no harm in praying for something you wish for. Again, it's all a matter of interpretation... let's leave it up to the individual and his/her beliefs without imposing our own criteria for what may or may not be a worthy cause.

au contraire, praying for a "trivial" matter shows that the individual asks God for His help even in the most basic things... and as opposed to making a mockery, I construe it to be somewhat of a statement that goes to show the strong beliefs of a person. Just a different way to look at things I suppose...
