to see the problem think why this "Islamic" practice is getting worse then other Islamic practices? reason is lack of any authentic reference or code to observe it as religious gathering.
Anyway, I consider it ok as long as it does not include so-called naray-bazi and artificiality, and congregation is addressed on seerat ul Nabi and Sunnah, etc. As if we are supposed to hold love for prophet everyday not any specific day.
And this is the only reason why I have accepted it ... Because there is a space for it that is good ... So long as it does not transgress the bounds ...

Pardon me i didn't get u r question. Well our religious history is a non sectarian, non-racial, non-doctrinal, universal religion, which Islam claims to be. So I believe the context of the above injunction could be that what mentioned in Quran and what our Prophet PBUH done i.e., His PBUH Sunnah.

No, I mean ... Who is this meant for? Is this verse meant for you to tell all around you what they should and should not do? What is the context of this verse?

My understanding is that this verse meant to the entire ‘Ummah’ of Prophet Muhammad 
I might be wrong but that is what I understood.

Foremost, that is mentioned in Quran and not commanded by any ordinary person but by Almighty Allah through His Prophet PBUH. And there is difference between commander and saying/order of an ordinary person.
Well if you command me something then I’ll rather check whether u r saying is correct or wrong. On the other hand I’ll check myself too whether i’m correct at my stance or wrong. Our further talks eventually will takes us at a point where we would agree or disagree. Main thing is that ’ we done our job at our ends’, and our judging is by Almighty Allah.
Pardon me brother but still unable to understand what exactly u wanna say here?

Aik Hadeeth ka mafhum hai "Nabi Kreem Alehi Assalat Wassalam aik din apne sahaba k sath bethe thy tou aik stick le kr Unho ne aik sidhi line khenchi aur us k sides se bht sari right n left lines khenchi aur Farmaya, Ye sidhi line Islam ka Mera Mere Sahaba ka rasta hai , psss agr is sidhe raste ko pakr lo gay tou kbhi gumraah ni ho gay" AO KAMA QAAL !
Ahadeeth mein Muslims ki sirf do Eidein hain jo sahaba ne bhi manayein aur hamein b manane ka hukm hai , Eid ul Fitr aur Eid ul Adh-ha
Aur jin sahib ne confirmed 12 Rabi ul Awwal as a death date of the Holy Prophet btaya, ye b bilkul sahi hai aur yeh hamara almiya hai k hamare Muslims apni bewaqoofio ki wajah se unki death date ko celebrate krte hain,
