Ofcourse, it was genuine query. We can start a separate discussion on that to avoid diverting this discussion. I know quite a few Houstonians who have seen the light and are here, so you will be in familiar company. You can keep supporting Astros, Rockets and Texans, too.
I was wondering, this is a debate with no clear cut answers. What did the sahaba-e-karaam and other Muslims during and after the time of the Prophet (pbuh) when they travelled to a non-muslim area/state or were in a position when they were offerred non-zabiya meat.
Wine is the part of Christain and Jewish diet or food because they use cooking wine to cook their foods, how could their food will be Halal for Muslim, if they use cooking wine in their foods, how do you know whether they use cooking wine or not in their foods. Foods of people of the books are Halal only if it is tayub or pure and lawful.

well it can be halaal if we take part of the book and reject the other half. That is, to say that since Quran says it is OKAY to eat from the zabeeha of People of the Book, we just make a FULL STOP and totally forget to read the other condition about it. Really. The animal has to be slaughtered in the lights of rules outlined in Gospel or Torah.
Now, if we think logically, why was it made halal in the first place? If we Ask this question ourselves, what will be the most logical answer? Why not a halaal animal slaughtered by a non-ahl-e-kitaab without saying the name of the Lord vs an ahl-e-kitaab slaughtering without taking the name of God either?
If it is with regard to strick jewish dietry laws, yes it is. According to Mufti Justice Taqi Usmani, the only kosher that is allowed is of Orthodox Jews.
Because only the Orthodox Jews make sure that a blessing is said over every single killed animal. They keep a rabbis present at the slaughterhouse throughout the process to make sure every single animal is killed in God’s name.
Liberal Jewish rabbis allow the blessing to be said once for the entire batch of animals. So a rabbi will go to the cow factory in the morning, say a blessing before the killing starts, then collect his money and go home.
Orthodox Jewish kosher has a distinguidsing Kosher certificcation, but I can’t remember what it is!!!
‘Murdar’ meat is not allowed in Islam.
Quran clearly prohibits us from eating ‘murdar’ .
What I understand by ‘murdar’ is the animal being dead by means other than being beheaded…(Bullet, arrow, hammer, fall, disease, dog grabbing the neck and hence choking… etc.)
Now someone told me that at some automatic chicken slaughter house, chickens are sent over the belt for beheading and chickens then drop in to water buckets. Some chickens drop ‘before’ their beheading and actually die of drowning.
Not sure if its true.
But I absolutely try to avoid meat which I have any doubt not being Zabiha or has been mixed with non-zabiha.
Outside food in most of non muslim countries is contaminated with pork and pork products as well. Even some salad has bacon. Beans, mexican pita are contaminated with 'lard. So why eat at those places when one can avoid it?
Ribs are pork at over 90 percent places.
Same grill where chicken or beef is cooked (and same utensils are used) pork is also cooked…
Do you think resturants will care to cook pork and other meat separately?
We also have to distinguish from** ‘halal’** and** ‘zabiha’.**
while chicken as meat is ‘halal’ it may not be ‘zabiha’ if not properly beheaded.
Please find the products which can be contaminated with pork. I used to have a list but cannot find it.
[6:145] Say: I do not find in that which has been revealed to me anything forbidden for an eater to eat of except that it be what has died of itself, or blood poured forth, or flesh of swine-- for that surely is unclean-- or that which is a transgression, other than (the name of) Allah having been invoked on it; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring nor exceeding the limit, then surely your Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.
All of us hate being painted with one brush when a bomb explodes and “Muslims” are blamed, don’t we? Now how conveniently we painted all Christians as “ahle-kitaab”
The Christians, even at the time of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) considered Hazrat Eesa (Peace be upon him) to be the son of God (Naozbillah). This is addressed a number of times in the Quran, and still they are considered as "People of the Book", and their meats were allowed (arguably).
But Protestant Christians did not exist at the time of the Prophet (pbuh). Is there food halal? Only Coptic, Orthodox Catholic and the sect in Ethiopia Christians existed at that time.
