Re: dupatta-free trend
I'd never leave my house without a dupatta if I'm wearing a shalwar kameez, it feels and looks incomplete. I don't wear dupattas with kaaftans though.
Re: dupatta-free trend
Purely depends on the cut of the shirt...for churidaar and peshwaz or ethnic/traditional shalwar kameez, a dupatta is what completes and outfit...specially if going to the bazaar, family gatherings or day to day wear in general....but if its a trendy top type kameez worn with tights or over jeans, i.e. the one with a cowl neck or extremely flowy and loose, one can do without a dupatta...
Re: dupatta-free trend
Oh gawd. Even here, I often see women wearing see through shirts with contrast bras and it drives me nuts. Looks trashy.
Well, thanks to the contrast colored undergarments…at least you know for sure that they’re not naked. Good thing right? B/C if they wore nude colored ones that gave the impression that they were really nude… ![]()
Not sure which is worse actually. :hinna:
Re: dupatta-free trend
I think it depends ..on what you are wearing ..a normal shalwar qameez will look weird without a dupata ..but the trends these days of long flowy shirts and tights ..Idk ..I think it suite young girls ..but I cant picture an aunty/middelaged lady wearing a shalwar qameez with no dupata ..sound weird to me .
I roam around in kurta /tight without a dupata here but never done that in pakistan ..Idk why..but i just can't imagine myself without covering myself when i am in pak ..people STARE alot in pak ..so guess that's the reason I feel ok without a chadar/dupata here but not in pak . .. anyways I plan on getting matching shawls with my shirts for Dec (hint hint ) ..

just ewww.
Re: dupatta-free trend
WOW @ some of the comments.
I dunno.
As much as I HATE duputtas…I wear em with my shalwar kameez, no matter what. Depending on the company, I’ll wear it to the side on the shoulder (yeah I’m one of those
) or in my gala. I can’t wear it for running errands or anything, I envy women who can and not struggle wiht it..but i always struggle with mine.
With desi clothes I wear a duputta…there are a few outfits that can get away with no duputtas..like the long flowy dress types…but only a few certain body types can pull that off I think.
dupatta-free trend
It's a question and matter of sharam and Hayaa. Wearing no dupatta, sleeveless, and such is also looked at sign of being modern, elite and forward. Living in USA and avidly watching paki tv - it's funny and sad to hear girls speaking in English to show how modern and educated there are. Don't get me wrong there are some ppl in Pakistan who speak and understand English better than a lot of people here. Urdu is a rich language and we do have a rich culture. However it seems that there is a race to be rich and modern. The media, popular culture, the plays all reflect greed and the desire to get ahead to any cost.
Sorry for getting off topic, but the way a woman dresses gives insight to her mind. Some Unmarried girls wear suggestive clothes for good rishtas and to to entice men ....sometimes even married men.
And then there are married women who parade around in alluring clothes so that their husbands won't go astray. If all the other women are looking hot and showing all their assets then why shouldn't I do it? Especially so that my husband's interest stay with me. I have heard so many married women give he argument that if I look hot then my husband won't look at any of the other women. I beg to differ. Chances are if your husband has a wandering eye he will still look at the other hotties. He knows he has instant Access to you but doesn't always get the chance to view the other women. Also does it occur to these woman that there are other men who are ogling at them more than their dear husbands . In mixed gatherings you definitely can tell that most hubbies are checking out other women. Anyways I think hijab and even dupattas sends a message/signal to men that the woman is not there for your viewing pleasure. There have been so many occasions when we have come home from mixed gathering and my hubby will comment on how a relative or my friends looked. I've even heard my brothers and cousins comment on how good or bad some girl or woman looked. Folks, Allah created men as a visual beings. They will look at other woman if they make them selves available. That how Allah created them to be. .
Think about this while you are dressing hotly to impress your man at a party. Imagine how many other married, unavailable men you are impressing at the same time.
Re: dupatta-free trend
nahhhhhh we are conservative. We appreciate the presence of duppata even if its just hanging on one shoulder or even lying on the bed
Re: dupatta-free trend
It is sad, very sad. But to be honest, long shirts and churidaar are much better than the 'short tight kameez' trend..
Re: dupatta-free trend
Shut.The.Front.Door!!!
Are you serious? Iss kapray ke saat no lining? Shameez baghair? :smack:
Re: dupatta-free trend
this trend has been for a while now in khi n lhr.isb is slow as usual to catch up thank God, we were wearing patialias when nobody else would be caught dead in 'em ... but i've seen such flimsy dopes and that too worn as a scarf around the collarbone literally that's all it covers, so the purpose of it isn't alive anymore is it ...
personally only wear em for formal outfits and that too it gets left on a chair or something:@:
Re: dupatta-free trend
Agree with ur points but Allah also told them to lower their gaze & in Pk it’s opposite , they stare at you awfully regardless if the woman is in a burqa even.![]()
Re: dupatta-free trend
^lol true
Re: dupatta-free trend
So true Majesty..
I was going to mention that..
If a guy is getting 'excited' by the lack of a little extra layer when a woman is already properly covered he has issues imo..
You are right ! Second gaze is haram ! Men in Pakistan are used to staring and looking you up and down. When you are totally covered they probably have to rack their brains out figuring out how she looks underneath that burqa . That’s not always a easy task you know.
Dress up for your husband…there is sawab for that. Often times I see so many worn , myself included we fail to do that. Heck some of us won’t even change our clothes for a week if we didn’t have to go to that social party and look gorgeous for that family or social circle event. of course if you go to work at an office you will dress up.
Re: dupatta-free trend
i want to add...the men who are staring the woman who is without dupatta or with dupatta but fitted outfit or if he can see her hair or body shape etc etc....then that woman will be equally gunahgaar as that man...
Re: dupatta-free trend
We get women in our shop without dupatta and they are only sikh women that wear like this and i think it looks awful and incomplete without dupatta. Dupattas oook so graceful and elegant, don't like this new dupatta free trend.
