Re: Iran Enraged by Pakistan’s Heedless Attitude to Border Control
it’s an amriikan saazish…they want to make Iran turn agaonst Pakistan so Iran will NOT sell gas/petrol/electricity to Pak and the pipeline project will be dead! ![]()
Re: Iran Enraged by Pakistan’s Heedless Attitude to Border Control
^^^ Valid point, but I doubt if the US is directly involved in this. Also, it is in Pakistan's interest to keep Iranian Baluch region stable. Otherwise, separates from Baluchistan will find sanctuaries there and attack Pakistan like TTP in Afghanistan.
Btw, as long as that region is unstable neither Iran nor Pakistan can benefits from its enormous natural wealth.
Re: Iran Enraged by Pakistan’s Heedless Attitude to Border Control
^ agree that it will NOT be in the best interest of either Pakistan or Iran. the west is tightening it's noose around Pakistan...their goal is to destabilize Pakistan then claim that Nuclear assets are unsafe hence it needs control over it.
an economically weak Pakistan will agree to take some money and give control to the west as it happened in the aftermath of USSR breakup.
Re: “Strong evidence” Pakistan military approved US drone strikes: UN report
Nothing new. PAK Army is responsible of every wrong happening in this country.
Re: “Strong evidence” Pakistan military approved US drone strikes: UN report
Really? Next thing people will say Pak army responsible for every wrong happening in this world ![]()
Re: “Strong evidence” Pakistan military approved US drone strikes: UN report
I would love to see any documents that prove there was an agreement from 2008 when the democratically government came in to power. Because so far all sources have said the agreements happened during the military dictatorship.
Re: “Strong evidence” Pakistan military approved US drone strikes: UN report
Weren't there wikileaks documents that said that Gillani said to the americans that you do your thing and we will make customary protests in public. It can't really be that hard to shoot down drones, since Pakistan has shot down indian (or Israeli) drones over Lahore and Kashmir.
Re: “Strong evidence” Pakistan military approved US drone strikes: UN report
Pakistani media brings up the issue of soverignity when it comes to Osama raid and predator drone strikes yet i see no clear action being taken against Tehreek E Taliban and other 'inteha pasand tanzeemain'.
Re: “Strong evidence” Pakistan military approved US drone strikes: UN report
From Mujahideen’s to corrupt politicians, it’s all our army’s fault.
Re: “Strong evidence” Pakistan military approved US drone strikes: UN report
We should keep in mind during these five years, 2009 to 2011 are also included when signature strikes (all combat age males were considered as potential targets) were carried out.
Drones killed 67 civilians in five years: Pakistan - DAWN.COM
**ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government claimed Wednesday that more than two thousand suspected terrorists have been killed in 317 drone strikes in the past five years while only 67 innocent civilians have died in these attacks.
**
**Surprisingly the official data also claims that no innocent civilian was struck by the drone strikes since January 2012 while more than three hundred terrorists were targeted in the strikes.
**
The official data negates the claims by local political and religious parties that US drone strikes in Pakistan have mostly killed innocent civilians, including women and children.
The Ministry of Defence furnished a written reply in the Senate today detailing the number of US drone strikes in the past five years.
According to the official data, this year has witnessed the lowest number of drone strikes which are 14 as compared to 2010 when the US hit Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas 115 times through drone attacks.
However, Pakistani government and political parties across the board have termed these strikes counter-productive and have repeatedly called for stopping the strikes.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his visit to the US last week also called upon President Barack Obama to end these strikes but the US has reportedly made no commitment to end the unmanned drone operation.
Defense analyst and author Zahid Hussain believes that the number of drone strikes in Pakistan may reduce, but it is highly unlikely that the US would consider putting an end to the drone program.
A UN expert investigating drone strikes said earlier this month that the Pakistani government told him that at least 400 civilians have been killed by the attacks in the country since they started in 2004.
The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, based in London, has estimated that at least 300 civilians have been killed by drones in Pakistan since 2008. The Washington-based New America Foundation put the figure at 185 civilians. These estimates are often compiled based on media reports about the attacks.
Amnesty International recently released a report on drone strikes in Pakistan, accusing the US of indulging in war crimes by targeting innocent civilians through armed drones.

**Drone strikes ‘could end tomorrow’
if Pakistan wants: US Congressman
**
WASHINGTON: US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee member Alan Grayson said that if Pakistan wants, drone strikes “could end tomorrow”, BBC Urdu reported.
Grayson stated that such strikes cannot occur without Pakistan’s approval and they would stop if the Pakistani government stopped facilitating them. This claim runs contrary to Pakistan’s stance that drones attacks are conducted without the approval of Pakistani authorities.
Remarking on the strength of the Pakistan Air Force, Grayson said that “these strikes would not be possible if Pakistan did not facilitate them.”
He also stated that “the way to stop drone strikes is through dialogue, not threats.”
Using Iraq as an example, he said the war there ended after the Iraqi government had told US troops to leave their soil.
He added further that the end to drone attacks would come only if a similar situation developed in Pakistan.
After Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s trip to the United States, his main advisor, Sartaj Aziz had said that America had not made a formal announcement that drone strikes will stop but they will reduce by the end of this year. Grayson however said he saw no evidence that Obama’s administration had implied a reduction in drone strikes by the year’s end.
Grayson felt that the US should compensate the heirs of innocent victims of the drone attacks.
The cat is out of the bag. That’s what Imran Khan keeps screaming about: Speak truth to the nation for heaven’s sake.
Drones killed 67 civilians in five years: Claims the Government
what a farce report. anyone can tell that it’s not true.
Pakistan’s instance has been that the drone attacks are counter productive and it has been creating hatred for the US and the Pakistani government. how is it counter productive if these drone attacks have killed only 67 civillians and 3000 terrorist and since 2012 no civilian has died? it’s oxymoron.
i think it’s blatant lie and the government has to make up it’s mind what’s the right claim to make.

Re: Drones killed 67 civilians in five years: Claims the Government
and janab qibla with all due respect, who are you to call this report “blatant lie” just because it may not support your viewpoint?
this report is a wake up call for all those who are yelling day and nite to stop drone drone drone drone…and the biggest slap is on nawaz face who just went to USA screaming drone drone drone…what a shame for him…this is his govt presenting this report. lol
Re: Drones killed 67 civilians in five years: Claims the Government
i have a simple logic...taliban's biggest demand is to stop drone attacks....
what does it mean? it means drones are hurting them really bad...really bad!
and any thing that is hurting these animals has to be good for us...guys value proposition for talibans and us is mutually exclusive and that too on a collectively exhaustive basis...meaning that pick any topic and the value prop will be mutually exclusive...PERIOD
so help me understand...why are we yelling stop drone stop drone stop drone! if drones were indeed killing many more civilians than talibans then it was not a bad thing for talibans...as it would help taliban to do more propaganda against West and Pakistani govt but that is not case...Talibans want drones to stop really bad!
yes civilinas do die but many of them are families of taliban (and yes that is sad but taliban are responsible for this misery as well)
Re: Drones killed 67 civilians in five years: Claims the Government
^ PD are you not scared to find out, that perhaps Taliban care about people in the area more then Govt does ??
That would be the worst situation we could be in.

good point but taliban have never shown any such sign.....
not that our governments any better for masses but definitely better than taliban..they at least dont slaughter poor masses!
Re: Drones killed 67 civilians in five years: Claims the Government
PD, there are reports from UN, Amnesty International and local people who put the civilian casualty at much much higher number than the official figures. why is Govt of Pakistan telling Obama and in the UN that drone strikes are counter productive and is hurting WOT...lemme ask you bro, if only 67 civilians have died in 5 years and 3000 terrorists then it's hardly counter productive. the govt must support drone strikes. this report by the govt also says that no civilians have been killed by drones since 2012...do you believe that? honestly?

sir jee...i dont get into numbers game....who knows!
but i do like to think logically and yes drone attacks are ABSOLUTELY NOT COUNTER PRODUCTIVE. that is why talibans are yelling so loud to stop them. Drone attacks are such a huge deterent for them both strategically and operationally..their leadership can hardly stay at one place more than few nites...they can never do their shura meetings anymore as they don't want the risk of every senior leader to die
logic no 2....that is why army is supporting drone atatcks and actually providing info to Americans for more focused drone attacks
as far as our govt is concerned....they are just scoring political points to gain favorable view among masses and to counter PTI who opposes drone attacks.
UN/Amnestry latest report..even they are showing far more talibans dying than civilians...
anyway i am not supporting or rejecting numbers cited in this report from pakistani govt....i am just urging you to think logically that why drone attacks are not that bad
