Many of my family members have green eyes and are very very light skinned- Punjabis and Pathans are generally tall, light skinned and can easily pass off as Italians and Greeks. Most of the Indians (Both North and South Indians) and Bengalis are very dark-skinned and short (male are like 5'7 on average and females 5'3). While most of the Indians are short and dark, it certainly proves beyond doubt that their beliefs (Hinduism and Sikhism) can be linked to indigneous beliefs of tribes of Africa I think. I think Pakistanis should consider themselves lucky that we are in that part of the subcontinent where there was a lot of misture between invading Turks, Iranians, Arabs and other european people- otherwise we would have looked like brown and short like Indians :D

Yes, Sindhi Hindus, Punjabi Hindus and Sikhs and Baloch Pandits (like Indian actor Rajkumar) are dark NOT muslims.. where do you get your facts, man? :grumpy:

No I am not going overboard at all bhaijaan.. Hmmm.. u have got the figure wrong.. only 20% of Punjabis might be brown- those who converted from Hinduism or something like that

dude ive lived in lahore....basically your right that overall the pakis are lighter skinned than indians... fine i agree with you there...but your saying that only 20% of punjabis are brown... then r u saying that the rest are what.. fair??

using the proper definition of fair.. amongst the punjabis i'd say about 10-15% are fair skinned ... and that is mostly thru mixed marriages with pathans/kashmiris etc.

But if you look at the vast majority of the people walking about on the streets in punjab .. they are brown.. i dunno what you're on about honestly r u sure youve not got the NWFP mixed with PUnjab..

someone mentioned all bengalis are dark skinned,ugly and short. for your kind information,there is no fixed skin colour among bengalis. i am one.i am nor short(6'') nor dark nor has anyone told me i am ugly . and dark doesnt mean ugly. just compare your that moti,manly and fair Meera with our dark,sexy Bipasha . Meera doesnt even stand a chance before her !!! and yes celena jaitley,bips,koena etc etc are not short. and yes,bengalis are not south indians. and Aishwariya is a south indian,and she is beautiful,tall and fair with green-blue eyes. now dont tell she is actually punjabi,kashmiri,pathani or sindhi !!!!

This article is from 1974. We know a lot more about the journey of man from DNA studies today than we did in 1974. In many cases, the common male ancestor of South Indians left the African continent before the ancestor of most Semites and Europeans. In other cases, their common ancestor was also the ancestor of most Europeans and Semites. There is no scientific evidence for recent mixing of African men among South Indian population. Most Africans are haplogroup A and B. These haplogroups are absent among Indians, including South Indians.

Actually, white skin burns more in bright sun light, but also absorbs more vitamin D than black skin from low levels of sun light. So, historically, it was an advantage to have light skin in climates with little sun light. Brown people have survived in some cold areas on the planet, usually by fortifying their diet with a Vitamin D rich fish diet. Its simply natural selection at work.

I highly recommend reading, 'Deep Ancestry' and 'The Journey of Man' by Dr. Spencer Wells, Ph.D Stanford, Director of the National Genographic Project sponsored by National Geographic and IBM.
