Dr. Shaista

^ great point made. i totally agree. if i was offered more money for something better...i would take it!

Re: Dr. Shaista

^Thanks for agreeing with me! I'm so sick of people bashing doctors since they are SUPPOSED to serve humanity. But when it comes to themselves personally, they are always looking for ways to earn more. It's just so unfair. Being a doctor i KNOW how hard it is to actually be at that level where you're considered rich. No one realizes that unfortunately.

Re: Dr. Shaista

so true. and at the end of the day its totally up to the individual if they want a complete career change and who are we to judge or critisise their decision?!

my cousin failed his a-levels like 3 times. lol! his mum would torture him and make him re-do the year over and over again! lol! his mum told him that he would either become a doctor or die! lol! anyway after doing a bsc degree (which he scraped through) he shocked the family and all he knew him and got into medical school! (he has the gift of the gab!)

at 35 years old he finally graduated and gave his degree scroll to his mum as a gift! he did what he asked after all.

he refused to do his house officer job...took out his savings...bought a holiday house near the sea and started his new life as a writer! thats all he ever wanted to do! and he is so successful now. lol!

and he is so happy now! ha ha!

Re: Dr. Shaista

ok so lets look at it rationally without getting hysterical and attacking all and sundry on their PERSONAL choices in life regarding career and family. you are entitled to your opinions but no one made you god so STOP pointing and passing judgment on people and labelling them.

now lets get some facts straight, does she brag about her medicine degree on her show? does she talk in the capacity of a practicing doctor thus misguiding people? does she refer to herself as 'dr.shaista' and emphasize on her title? if she does so, then that is wrong because that would be exploiting her degree for fame BUT the few episodes of hers i have seen, she does nothing of the sort, her qualifications never comes up. she actually tries very hard to fit in the showbiz world by being way too moronic and ditzy.

so its safe to say whatever 'respect' she is getting is because of her duties as a morning talk show host, whether anyone likes it or not. a little objectivity goes a long way sometimes.

Healthcare crisis in pakistan is NOT due to women not practicing. Most MEN who become doctors in pakistan go abroad. And the health care crisis by the way is NOT in any of the major cities in pakistan. You go to lahore, karachi, islamabad, you can find TONS of specialist doctors at any time. Actually it's easier to get an appointment here than it is in america because the waiting time for specialists for non emergency care is MUCH longer, even with good insurance plans.
So this crisis that you keep hearing about on tv and media is regarding the rural areas.
How many male doctors do you know who are willing to practice in a rural area in the middle of nowhere? Sorry to say but the only ones to even stay in pakistan are the ones who don't pass the USMLEs or have visa issues and couldnt fidn a US citizen girl to marry!
And the doctors who end up practicing in rural areas are the ones who couldnt even get a job in any major city in pakistan due to lack of experience and skills.
Why would a skilled doctor work in rural area when he can earn much more and have a better life in a normal city with running water?
ARE YOU WILLING TO WORK IN A RURAL AREA IN PAKISTAN? They don't need just doctors you know, they could really use a teacher there too. Why don't you volunteer there for a couple of years since you are obviosly so concerned about the crisis in pakistan!
It's very obvious that you don't know a thing about healthcare crises and the causes.

Re: Dr. Shaista

^ The problem is the mindset ...

People become doctors to be affluent these days ... Fewer people are practicing for a desire to treat mankind which comes above everything else that the title brings.

If they did then the best experienced doctors would be seen in those most needed areas.

May Allah (SWT) Help Us.

Re: Dr. Shaista

Anyone who earns the proper degrees earns the right to be called "Doctor". It comes with no requirements as far as how you use your knowledge or whether you use it at all. Its simply a title that comes with a certain level of education - in any field. You can earn a doctorate in basketweaving if you find a school that offers it...and then go on to be called "Doctor" for the rest of your life.

yes, this is a universal phenomenon actually. even in the US the mid-west 'rural' areas are always in need of specialists and competent physicians, but the difference here is that these area hospitals pay their doctors very very well as compared to urban hospitals so money is not the issue here. school districts are not that good in these areas, amenities and entertainment are very basic thus effecting quality of your life thus the decision to stay and practice around bigger cities where the market is already saturated but one is able to give ones family a better life. same could be said for Pakistan, where in addition to there being no money, the amenities and basic facilities are almost non-existent, you possibly cannot move with your family and sacrifice their needs as well, including good schooling. one has to look at the whole picture, not just one angle of it.

Re: Dr. Shaista

She is atleast DOING SOMETHING in PAKISTAN.

So who are you jealous of Shaista  or Dr?

and on serious note

Her show “Shaista and You” was worth watching for anyone interested in serious discussion. This is from I guess 2/3 (may be more) years ago… I have not seen her morning show ever but I became fan when she used to host “Shaista and You”. Then she was new on TV and most probably now is ko “HAWA” lagh gaee ho gee

Re: Dr. Shaista

She looks so cheap, I just youtubed her, blech. I mean, I'd hit it, don't get me wrong, as long as she doesn't talk. Her voice and way of talking are SUCH a turn off.

So who’s this Dr. Shaista that has earned the wrath of PCG? :konfused:

although its not hard to earn wrath of PCG all you need to be is either a **male **or any other female (other than PCG)

but to keep the record straight here she is

hot of this program

Shahid Masood banned, :aisha:

Samb! Where aaaaarreeee you?

:lifey:

Re: Dr. Shaista

Shaista's show is actually very good. I prefer the morning show on Indus, can't remember the name, but she always has psychologists and psychiatrists on her show that discuss real life issues that happen in a lot of homes, but are never discussed.

Re: Dr. Shaista

Same is with Anita Raja of PTV Home. She is in medical school. And now I saw her on PTV NEWS hosting current affairs. There is no merit here. Just physical appearance, face, body is first and the last thing.....

Another medical school girl now sings classical....I forgot her name but her voice sounds like RESHMA....

Are you willing to go work as a teacher in those needed areas? They need teachers more than doctors since the literacy rate in pakistan is less than 20% and majority of pakistani population is living in those areas.
How about you move to a remote village in sindh or nwfp and teach children how to read and write instead of sitting in your comfy house infront of the computer posting on gs telling doctors what they need to do inorder to be fulfill their "duty"?
Go help mankind yourself before pointing your finger at doctors!

Re: Dr. Shaista

that video is quite old. she looks more polished n beautiful now.
i dunno y everyone finds her a turn off. i find Amber"Banayo Singhar" and Farah"Food with Farrah" more annoying(sorry messing up on show's names here) and one more Noor...just hate her

Re: Dr. Shaista

doctor ho ker itni darpoke? :hmmm:

Wow!! You people actually watch all these shows?
