errrrr Not negatively as in awara and all those terms, but yes, odd and obviously not lady-like. I guess I will lose a little respect in the gaze of a beholder if I am found smoking that hookah pipe, or a cigarette too, for that matter, in a public place. For fun in private, I dont think it matters much.
I would be lying if I said I hadn't smoked. A group of my friends did it in college quite regularly and I went with them 1-2 x but i was really uncomfortable because it just felt unclassy. I also went one time when I was visiting cousins the middle east. The vibe at THAT hookah place was TOTALLY different. We ate dinner and smoked a little and left...there were entire families there. But that was 3 years ago and i haven't done it since. I don't find guys that do it attractive (mostly because the guys I DO know that do it are the biggest tools in the world) and I don't really have friends now that do it either (most of the girls that I know that do it are the ones that post pics of them blowing "O's" or posting statuses like OMG OMG OMG OMG HOOKAH)

When I was growing up in Kharrian cantt , our neighbor an old chaudhrain wearing her lush white kurta and dhooti used to smoke her Hooka with gurr gurr gurr sound. I used to play with her grand kids in their massive veranda.
I think I picked up smoking because of this great childhood memory :halo:

My daadi died from lung cancer about three years ago. She was a regular hookah smoker. The cancer spread and it was like a domino-effect...one organ shutting down after another...and the diabetes aggravated it. Nothing could be done so they brought her home and hooked her up to an oxygen tube...or maybe that was my grandfather. The details are fuzzy now. About five years prior to that....my dada had died from lung cancer as well.....cigarettes. I don't see the appeal in it. I've always been too chicken (still am) to put something harmful in my body...(gosh even needles/shots freak me out)...so I've never had the curiosity to try it.

hookah is fun when the buzz kicks in and i'm in a euphoric state but then I realize i'm stuck with a bunch of smurfs whom I must be entertained with for the next hour and down I go to the rabbit hole.

OMG story of my life.
my mum and dad hate it to the core but it is such a common thing here!!! and seriously, hookah is the only 'bad' thing i do! we girls meet up occasionally and have some shisha (as it is more commonly known here).
however, i will never want my now 15 yr old sister to ever try it. :D it's bad.. but well... chalta hai. and yes my mum says that girls should never hookah
