Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

I grew up watching my mom put on makeup and I always used to play around with hers. She loves lipsticks and lip products. Now that she’s in her early 40s, she STILL is obsessed with lipsticks and I slowly got her into blushes (one thing she was scared of so getting her the right kind of brush, a MAC #187, she now HAS to put on blush) and she is obsessed with eyeliner and it looks stunning on her as well (my mom is one of those kinds of women people stop on the street to call her beautiful, she is THAT gorgeous. Sigh.). She likes to make it thick and no liner on the waterline.

And I also got her into mascara and foundation (she loves MAC’s Face & Body and uses MAC’s Mineralized Skinfinish Natural to finish) and under eye concealer for an age spot under her eye.

My nani is on the simpler side and doesn’t wear any makeup except maybe surma, if even that. My dadi on the other hand is a FULL on ‘Glamma’, LOL. Her makeup routine for years has been a foundation stick, surma and lipstick. Lipstick is her security blanket and refuses to ever be seen without it, she wears it every morning after waking up. I find it so sweet.

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmother's use makeup?

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmother's use makeup?

...Your mom/dadi/nani dont?

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmother’s use makeup?

they do. i said wow on following praising of your mom.

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

wow 2...

:D

its cute though! :) i really wanna meet the ladies in your family now :D.

i never saw my grandmothers wear any makeup and infact my mom doesnt either except on shadis and that too very minimal. i think i have taken it after them :D when me or my mom even put on kajal or lip gloss, the kids say where are you going? hahahah. so reading yr post really has got me all curious :)

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

My dadi has probly never wore make up in her life. Bless her cotton socks, she probly smeared some vaseline on her wedding day and put her dupatta over her face to complete the look.
my mum wears lipstick sometimes, but its quite toned down, she's quite mumsy and doesn't like looking overdone cos she gets self-conscious, then she says 'im not young anymore' so won't wear much make up even if we encourage her. i do try to slip a bit of eyeliner on her at weddings though!

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

and yeah MWH, your family must be super glam! I'm thinking of those women on indian dramas all dressed to the hilt on a normal day to sit at home to wash the dishes! I'm not trying to be rude btw, I just think it's nice to see women looking after themselves!

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

i never saw my mum wearing make up except for some kajol and mash'Allah she looks great and radiant even though she's in her 60s, she's more into skin care and body care.
i was partly raised up by elder sister who's in her early 40s and she's always been obsessed about make up, but it didn't really influence me, i only started wearing and buying make up when i was around 21/22

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

Oh, lol. Why do you 'wow', STA? Out of curiosity or because I complimented my mom? :)

LOL, yeah, no one says "where are you going?" because we're all used to it. And maybe I'll post a picture of her on her wedding day. But you know, now that I think about it, all my phuphos take after my glam Dadi and all of them + their daughters are into makeup. They don't look like clowns because they know how to do it but they are not shy of doing smokey eyes or wearing bold lips etc. I think that's why, along with my mom, I'm so makeup obsessed. :D

LOL! I laughed out loud when I read this. Aww, that is the sweetest thing I've ever read. I love cute dadis like that. Ufff!

lol, it wasn't rude at all! My mom is alway telling me how I should always look after myself because nothing fixes a husband's day after seeing his wife looking after herself. She'll wear lipstick, and has always done this btw, just before my dad comes home from work. He was telling us kids yesterday, in fact, that nothing fixes a bad tiring day after being greeted by my mom waiting for him at home looking pretty and wearing lipstick for him. He said it just is a mood picker-uper and instantly makes a hectic day the best. AND he said this without her presence. It's so sweet and old-school, I love it!

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

the way you described her, specially when other people let her know that she is beautiful.
therefore, wow was my spontaneous reaction.

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

Sure that would be cute! :)

Btw i think its really good when a women/men puts in effort to look good/keep fit at all ages, i think its highly commendable. Yes, not acting/dressing one's age is really a turn off but you can look appropriate and good at the same time and you should!

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

my mom wears eyepencil and lipstick... but she's not into eyeshadow... but she looks nice with eye pencil and lipstick

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

the ladies in my family are not big on makeup. Actually my mum only uses lipstick and surma up until now. Now she does use minimal foundation, but no blush etc etc. She is very simple, but with the most gorgeous skin ever. I wonder if thats due to less chemicals?

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

^it can be or she has fantastic genes. :)

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

Don't know about my grandparents but I assume they were natural, typical granny types... my mother was also really simple when it came to makeup, she would wear lipstick, sometimes nail polish, and blush...thats it.

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

My mom only wears lipstick nothing else I've never seen my grandmothers wear any type of makeup

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

my mom doesn't wear lot of make-up, mostly lipstick, some light foundation. but i think make up use should be reduced after 40 when it sits in ur creases.

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

My grandmother wore no makeup at all...ever.

My mom wore minimal makeup on her wedding day and even now just keeps it very simple. She was very beautiful in youth, as a bride and still is Mashallah. She has great skin and looks lovely in most colors.

My sisters and I do her makeup for her because she won't otherwise. She stays pretty simple.

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

^or you can find products that fit your new skin. There are some great brands which make makeup appropriate for aging/mature skin. Also, prepping the skin appropriately (eye cream, moisturizer and primer) make a HUGE difference.

Re: Do your Moms or even Grandmothers use makeup?

My mum wears makeup! And i love when she does her eyes! all smoky and cat-like! she does wear standard make up like lipstick/blush/foundation/eyeshadow/eyeliner. Not sure if my dadi/nani wore makeup- can't remember.
